Hip-hop rapper, Sarkodie has disclosed that he is keeping the ‘fake’ Dr. UN award after he had a second thought about the turn of events.
According to the rapper, it’s not a bad idea to keep the award given to him by Kwame Owusu Fordjour also known as Dr. UN because he has realized the awards were given based on some genuine thoughts.
He noted that Dr. UN had a nice idea of rewarding hardworking Ghanaians for their work. However, he condemned the approach in which Dr. UN used to organize the awards. Sarkodie explained that using the United Nations name was absolutely wrong.
“I am keeping the award on second thoughts. If you think about it what Dr.UN did was not all fake because he thought of rewarding hardworking people. But the only issue is how he went about it. Using the name of UN was very wrong”.
Sarkodie narrates fake award story
Narrating how he fell into the trap of Dr. UN, Sarkodie said: My manager, Angelo, told me about the United Nations having the intentions of giving me an award for the role I have played in the music industry over the years after Dr. UN contacted Angelo”.
“I accepted to go to the event and claim the award after Angelo gave the go-ahead. But when we got to the venue, I felt something wasn’t right about the whole event but decided to keep my cool”.
Sarkodie further stated that he saw Dr. UN himself outside the venue and even commented on the size of Dr. UN’s suit with his entourage as he was oblivious to the fact that Dr. UN was the organizer of the awards.
The ‘Coachella’ hitmaker stated that he was “shocked to see Dr. UN on stage presenting some of the awards to the winners” but, he thought it was normal until Dr. UN took the microphone and started speaking. He revealed that that was when “I realized he (Dr. UN) was the one organizing the awards and not the United Nations”.
Shatta Wale in recent times has been in the news for all the wrong reasons as Ghanaians have heavily backlashed him noting that he is a “confused” person. Reacting to this, Sarkodie urged Ghanaians to accept his colleague, Shatta Wale as he is because he can never change.
Sarkodie noted that he has learned to accept Shatta Wale and his controversial personality.
“Shatta Wale will never change. He can’t change. He’s abusive, that’s how he is and I have accepted him for who he is. Everyone has a way of letting out his emotions and that is his way. Let us all learn to take him like that. He can’t change”.
That aside, Sarkodie disclosed his intentions of being like legendary musician Daddy Lumba. According to him, he will be honored to get to the level Daddy Lumber has gotten to in his music career. Sarkodie eulogized Daddy Lumba and referred to him as a “Legend”.
