King Paluta Details How He Got His Stage Name

King Paluta

Fast-rising Ghanaian musician, Thomas Adjei Wireko, popularly known as King Paluta, has opened up about the origin of his stage name.

The musician explained that he started his music career under the stage name ‘TT’, which is the initials of his local and English names.

The ‘Makoma’ hitmaker stated that he later adopted ‘King Paluta’ as a stage name based on the suggestion of an individual he regarded as an uncle.

“The Paluta name was given to me by someone whom I used to refer to as an uncle. I was not biologically related to him. TT was my stage name in the beginning. I am Tawiah. I was born after twins, and my English name is Thomas. The two names start with T, so I was using it as a stage name but whenever that uncle saw me, he would call me King Paluta, which was his nickname.”

King Paluta added that he researched the stage name and realized it was a real name with a good meaning before he adopted it for his music persona.

“Before I used the King Paluta name, I googled it and I realized that it was a real name and not a nickname. It is not a Ghanaian name but it is a real name that has a good effect, so I started using it.”

The singer also shared details about his family and the support he received for his music career from his late father, who passed away in 2022.

King Paluta reacted to the recent recognition he received from the Grammys for his exploits in the hiplife genre.

The fast-rising artist was asked about his thoughts on being featured in a recent Grammy article about the top 10 artistes essential to Ghana’s hiplife genre.

The ‘Aseda’ hitmaker expressed his excitement about his name being included among other legendary musicians in the star-studded list.

King Paluta stated that the Grammy feature was a testament to hard work and overnight rise to prominence in the mainstream after many years of being an underground artiste.

He said: “I was so happy. From where I started, it was hard for me to climb to the top of the music industry. When I saw that (the article), I was extremely happy. I can’t be thankful enough.”

The musician also discussed some of the impressive feats he has accomplished in the Ghanaian music industry so far in 2024 and his journey to mainstream success.

“I am so grateful for all that is happening. From the Ghana Music Award to topping music charts because I think it has just been about King Paluta in 2024. Before 2024, I did a verse on Rap Fadda’s song, and it was everywhere.

“‘Aseda’ also came to take over the baton. The song was topping the charts after its release before ‘Makoma’ came to take over the number 1 spot.”

The musician’s song ‘Makoma’ instantly became a fan favorite and catapulted him to global stardom, climbing quickly up multiple music charts and earning him big numbers on high-profile digital music streaming platforms.
