Ghanaian singer, Kuami Eugene, affectionately known as the Rockstar has responded to ongoing allegations that he steals music by sampling other artists’ works.
Kuami Eugene clarified the misconceptions surrounding his creative process.
“I don’t ‘steal’ music,” Kuami Eugene asserted firmly, countering the persistent rumors that have surrounded his work.
He emphasized that as an artist, he draws inspiration from a variety of sources, often incorporating unique elements to develop his distinctive sound.
“Every artist takes influences from different places,” he explained, highlighting the collaborative nature of the music industry.
In support of the widespread habit of stealing lyrics or melodies, Eugene cited well-known Nigerian musicians, Davido and Wizkid as well as famous personalities like Michael Jackson.
“There’s nothing wrong with taking a line or two and modifying it to fit my style. It’s a part of how we create music, and it’s something that professional musicians do all the time.”

Despite his explanation, Kuame Eugene expressed his frustration over the scrutiny he faces compared to other artists.
“I feel like many artists can get away with it, but for me, it’s like every time I release a hit that includes a line reminiscent of another artist’s work, I’m criticized. It’s disheartening because I put a lot of effort into making my music original while drawing inspiration.”

His remarks shed light on the broader conversation about originality and creativity within the music industry.

Kuami Eugene’s willingness to address these allegations head-on demonstrates his commitment to his craft and the respect he has for his fellow artists.
He reiterated that music is an evolving art form that thrives on inspiration and collaboration. “At the end of the day, we’re all trying to create something beautiful that resonates with our audience,” he stated.
Kuami Eugene also dispelled rumors that he had left Lynx Entertainment.
He said all the information about his exit from the label is mere rumors.
According to him, if he leaves Lynx Entertainment, he and the record label will release an official communication to that effect.
“People are so impatient on social media. If there was an official exit like everyone is talking about, I’ve not put anything out, Lynx has not put anything out and people are just trying to end our contact for us. At the end of the day, if we are close to the level where we feel like ‘okay Kuami is no longer with Lynx and he is done’, we will put it out for everyone to know.”

Kwami Eugene Shares His Approach to Creativity

Kuami Eugene shared fascinating insights into both his personal life and professional journey, particularly his unconventional approach to creativity.
One of the highlights of Eugene’s discussion about his morning routine. “I wake up early, around 5:30 AM,” he explained, adding a touch of humor to the revelation. He also shared his unique setup.
“The first thing I do is head straight to the bathroom. That’s where most of my creative inspiration strikes me. I’ve installed speakers in my bathroom, so I can listen to my music on repeat while I shower. It really helps me refine my work before I finalize anything.”

The host, intrigued by this creative ritual, couldn’t help but express his surprise. “Speakers in the bathroom? That’s a first for me!” he exclaimed.
Kuami Eugene smiled, acknowledging that many of his fellow musicians are often taken aback when they discover his built-in studio at home. “You should see their faces when they realize I’m serious about my music everywhere, even in the shower!” he laughed.
The conversation took an interesting turn when the host inquired whether Eugene listened to music from his peers. “Of course!” the Rockstar confirmed enthusiastically.
“I enjoy all genres of music, and it greatly influences my own music-making process. Listening to others helps me evolve as an artist. Sometimes, I’ll be in the shower and get an idea for a song. I’ve even rushed out of the bathroom in the nude just to record a spontaneous thought!”
