Ghanaian actress, Lydia Forson has reacted after the news of the passing of the leader of the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor, went viral on social media in the early hours of Tuesday, October 29, 2024.
On her X account, Lydia Forson wrote that she spent the evening of Monday, October 28, 2024, speaking to her friends about Akua Donkor.
She noted that she spoke about the late politician’s smartness and how she had been successful in her political career.
“I literally spent my evening talking about this woman and telling friends how smart she has to be to have been so successful in her field. Talked about how much I used to write about her.”

The star actress, who recently turned 40, was in disbelief and noted that she hoped the news was not true. “I hope the news isn’t true because this will be so bizarre!” she said.
In another post, Lydia Forson reacted to a video showing Akua Donkor successfully filing her nominations for the fourth time to contest as president in the December 2024 elections.
Reacting to the unfortunate news, Miss Forson noted that it felt surreal. “This feels so surreal. Just last night, my friends and I talked about her journey and success as a farmer,” she added.
The multiple award-winning actress wrote that she admired how audacious the late politician was for vying for the presidency against all the mockery.
“I always admired that about her, and how audacious she was for standing for president against all mockery. Little did we know she was gone. May she rest in peace.”

Afia Schwarzenegger Drops Touching Tribute
Ghanaian actress, Afia Schwarzenegger dropped a touching tribute to the leader of the Ghana Freedom Party, Akua Donkor, who was confirmed dead.
The controversial media personality shared her sadness over Akua Donkor’s death.
Afia claimed that Akua Donkor tried to recruit her as her running mate in 2015. Although she refused, Afia Schwarzenegger established it became something they would laugh about whenever she called the late politician.
I was the 1st appointed running mate of Ghana Freedom Party in 2015…. I know people will not believe it, so I went into my archives. Funnily but sad, I spoke with Roman father and Madam Akua Donkor on the phone last Friday, and we had a very good laugh about it. Rest in perfect peace.”

The presidential aspirant’s running mate, Kwabena Agyekum Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Father, confirmed her demise this morning.
He explained that the 72-year-old farmer and politician had been admitted to the Ridge Hospital, where her demise occurred. He added that Akua Donkor died in the company of her close relatives and daughters.
Donkor’s first presidential attempt came in 2012 when she applied to run as an independent candidate but was disqualified.
This year, the Electoral Commission confirmed her bid to contest in the December 7 elections, leading the Ghana Freedom Party.
Akua Donkor was a staunch advocate for the rights of farmers and women. Her bold, outspoken demeanor enabled her to capture public attention and significantly impact the grassroots communities she aimed to represent.
Throughout her political journey, she distinguished herself by running for the presidency multiple times, demonstrating remarkable resilience despite financial challenges.
Akua Donkor was listed as the third candidate on the ballot for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
In the lead-up to the 2024 general elections, she was actively preparing her campaign with just 39 days remaining, promising policies that included free vehicles for journalists, duty-free port services for the clearance of goods, free education, and improved remuneration for farmers.
