American rapper, Megan Thee Stallion, has finally recounted the trauma she endured after an alleged 2020 shooting.
This is the first time the rapper is addressing the Tory Lanez alleged shooting on live television since he allegedly shot at her feet as the duo left a party in Hollywood Hills in July 2020.
“It was an argument. I was ready to go and everybody else wasn’t ready to go, but that’s like normal friend stuff. We fuss about silly stuff all the time,” Megan Thee Stallion said. “I never put my hands on anybody, I never raised my voice too loud. This was one of those times where it shouldn’t have got this crazy”.
The female rap star explained how the incident began, claiming Tory Lanez, who is legally known as Daystar Peterson, stood outside the parked car by the window, and started “shooting towards me”.
“So, I get out of the car and it’s like, everything happened so fast,” Megan explained. “And all I hear is this man screaming, he said ‘Dance SIC’, and he started shooting. I’m just like, ‘Oh my god.’ He shot a couple of times”.

During the interview, Megan Thee Stallion got emotional as she recalled the events. According to the rapper, she didn’t want to move because if she took the wrong step, Tory Lanez could aim at another part of her body.
“I don’t know if he could shoot me and kill me”, Megan said tearfully. “I was really scared because I had never been shot at before”.
Lanez Pleaded Not Guilty to Federal Assault Charges
It was only after the alleged shooting that Lanez, apologized to Megan before he offered her money and begged her not to say anything, according to Megan’s account in court in December 2020. Megan also told the detective that Lanez made a reference to the fact that he was already on probation for an earlier criminal offense, therefore, she should keep her “mouth shut”.

However, Lanez has maintained his innocence. The day after the rapper was charged, Lanez tweeted that the truth will come to the light and that charge is not a conviction.
Lanez, who was rumored to have been dating Megan, was present in the courtroom listening to the testimony, and his attorney questioned the detective on whether he had asked Megan how much she had drunk that day. The detective also relayed that Megan recounted Lanez being intoxicated during the July 2020 incident, according to reports.
Following the shooting, Megan Thee Stallion released an op-ed in The New York Times calling for the protection of Black women. In the piece titled, ‘Why I Speak Up For Black Women’, the hip-hop star wrote that black women are still constantly disrespected and disregarded in so many areas of life.
“My initial silence about what happened was out of fear for myself and my friends. Even as a victim, I have been met with skepticism and judgment. The way people have publicly questioned and debated whether I played a role in my own violent assault proves that my fears about discussing what happened were, unfortunately, warranted”.
