Legendary gospel singer, Moses OK has disclosed the amount of money he receives from the Ghana Music Rights Organisation (GHAMRO).

He indicated that he recently began uploading his music and has garnered significantly more revenue compared to the payments he receives from GHAMRO.

“I just came there but I think it’s far better than what I get from GHAMRO. Last year what I received from GHAMRO was between 100 cedis and 90 cedis.”

From the start of his career, Moses OK revealed that he has never received an amount exceeding one hundred cedis from GHAMRO. “I’m yet to confirm, but that’s what we’ve been receiving,” he added.

This has caused him to join his colleagues and stream all his songs on music platforms to gain financial rewards for his efforts.

The ‘Nkakrankakra’ songwriter has released a new track titled ‘Adom Bi Ahyia Me’ (Grace Encountered Me) and is streaming on all music platforms.

Moreover, renowned Ghanaian musician, Ama Nova, added her voice to the ongoing conversation about royalty payments in the music industry.

She emphasized the need for a more efficient and transparent system to manage royalty payments to musicians.

According to Ama Nova, the current leadership of GHAMRO is doing nothing enough to ensure musicians receive fair compensation for their work.

She advocated for the establishment for the establishment of new institutions to oversee the royalty payments, stating that the current system is inadequate.

Royalties are crucial for musicians, providing them with earnings from the use of their creative works, such as songs played on the radio, streamed online, or used in public performances.

In Ghana, the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) is responsible for collecting and distributing these royalties to artists.

However, the system has faced criticism over the years, with many artists expressing dissatisfaction with the transparency and amounts received.

Moses Advises on Choosing a Partner

Moses OK outlined some factors he believes would sustain marriages.

The Gospel star advised against choosing partners based on “current situation, beauty and looks, and position and status”.

“I’ve come to that understanding that when it comes to marriage, you have to get it right. You need to know your vision [and reason] for getting married, and get the right person [to marry] for the purpose of God for your life.”

The singer-songwriter noted while everything changes, “your purpose will stay with you for life” and so, “define your purpose first before you choose a partner”.

The ‘Osoro Taa W’akyi’ hitmaker illustrated his point by noting that his wife blogs for his music and ministry.

“She’s with me all the time. She’s my blogger. She’s everything. She’s entered my purpose.”

Moses OK also underlined the importance of prayer for wisdom.

“Secondly, it is God who created marriage so you need to go to him all the time for his wisdom and knowledge to govern the marriage.”

He stated that “the God-kind of marriage,” cannot be achieved without engaging “God’s principles” about the marriage institution, contained in the Bible.

The Truth City Chapel, Kumasi, Ashanti Region, founder explained God expected marriage to produce “righteous descendants and offspring,” emphasizing the importance of the couple being in line with God first.

He rebuked the trivialization of the “spiritual side of marriage,” admonishing it as the source of strange conflicts and many broken homes.

Moses OK released his first album ‘Osoro Taa W’akyi’ in 2003. He has been married for 13 years.
