Veteran Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade Ekeinde has made the headlines after a fan addressed her by the wrong name on social media.

Just recently, an X (formerly Twitter) user identified as Dami Adenuga, posted a video of the actress on his page and called her “Omotola Johnson”.

This was an earlier video the movie star had shared, revealing why she takes breaks from Nollywood intermittently.

Shortly after the X user’s post made the rounds, it drew the actress’ attention and she wasted no time in correcting the error.

According to the award-winning movie star, the fan could have just called her by her first name, Omotola.

“Omotola johnson ? Lol… please just call me … OMOTOLA. It will suffice. It’s Trademarked.”

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde’s exchange with the fan who mistook her name, as well as the new information she shared about her name being trademarked, got many netizens talking.

It can be recalled that popular Nollywood actress, Destiny Etiko firmly refuted claims of an affair with Captain Matthew Ekeinde, the husband of acclaimed actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde.

The allegations surfaced from a TikTok blogger who claimed that Ekeinde gifted Etiko a car, prompting the actress to address these rumors during an Instagram live session. Etiko dismissed the claims as “false” and part of a broader attempt by certain individuals to tarnish her reputation.

Actress Explains Breaks from Nollywood Career

Omotola Jalade Ekeinde revealed that she takes deliberate breaks to unwind, introspect, and rejuvenate after prolonged periods of work.

The 46-year-old film star stated this while addressing her intermittent hiatuses from Nollywood.

In a recent social media post, said she was clearing fans’ curiosity about her periodic breaks from the film industry.

“I know many don’t understand why I step away from movies for a few years and then come back again!” Omotola wrote.

“I’ve seen fans asking when I’ll return to the screen, but when you’ve been working since 15 as I have… You’ll understand the need to relax, relive, relearn, and recharge. Who gets it and who’s following?”

The award-winning film star made her Nollywood debut as the leading actress in ‘Venom of Justice’ in 1995, she was just 15 at the time. Since then, she has established herself as a prominent figure in the country’s entertainment industry.

Omotola has appeared in over 300 films and received many domestic and international awards.

The film star relocated with her family to the United States in 2021. She is married to Matthew Ekeinde. They celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in March 2023.

Last year, She was appointed an executive member of the Actors’ Branch of the Academy, also known as Oscars.

The actress, who moved to America a few years ago, shared a screenshot of a message she received from the Academy reminding her of an impending meeting to discuss improvements and goals for the current 95th award season.
