Nigerian music, icon Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr P, has opened up about the ongoing tension with his brother Paul Okoye, also known as Rudeboy, in a heartfelt message that highlights the deep-rooted issues within the iconic music duo, P-Square.

In the letter, Peter expressed his frustration with Paul’s recent public statements, where he felt belittled and discredited for his contributions to P-Square.

“Just like I have told you several times, I am not in any competition with you or anybody else. However, seeing you grant countless interviews where you constantly discredit my efforts in the group that we both created and built together really speaks volumes.”

Peter addressed Paul’s claims that he was the sole creative force behind P-Square, dismissing these assertions by listing some of the group’s hit songs, which he contributed to, including “Get-Squared,” “Bizzy Body,” “Personally,” and “Alingo”.

He questioned Paul’s attempts to diminish his role, saying, “You never acknowledged the other songs like ‘Get-Squared,’ ‘Bizzy Body,’ ‘Personally,’ ‘Roll It,’ and a few others. Were these songs also considered failures as well?”

Peter emphasized the essence of P-Square, attributing the group’s success to their combined efforts.

“The fans didn’t fall in love with P-Square because of who sang or danced the most. What made us special was the magic that came from our combined effort – us two! P-Square was a force, and the fans fell in love with P-Square because of our uniqueness and unity.”

Reflecting on the past, Peter Okoye revealed that he had often praised Paul’s songwriting ability and had refrained from responding to Paul’s public claims to maintain peace.

However, he now feels compelled to set the record straight, especially as their individual careers have not reached the same heights as P-Square.

“Is Rudeboy or Mr. P bigger and more successful than P-Square today? Are we individually selling out arenas and stadiums like P-Square used to?” he quizzed.

Peter also touched on the personal rift between them, citing instances where he felt disrespected by Paul.

“You have disrespected my wife, disrespected my family, disrespected my talent, disrespected my ideas, and even sided with Jude when he was clearly trying to oppress me,” he stated, expressing his disappointment in how their relationship has deteriorated.

In closing, Peter Okoye wished his brother well, despite the ongoing challenges, and asked for peace.

“I genuinely wish you nothing but the best, bro! As for those who believe these lies and false narratives… Please allow me to focus and do my music in peace. As for the EFCC matter, I will address it before the end of today. Stay tuned! Peace.”

Peter’s message comes as a plea for reconciliation and an end to the ongoing feud that has saddened many P-Square fans who long for the unity and magic that once made the duo Africa’s most celebrated music group.

“Evidently Paul has something he’s bittered about Peter. He’s consistently discrediting his brother, and it’s not good for their image.”

Everest Sports Ng

“I never see elder brother like Jude before. Instead of bringing your twins together, you separate them even more.”

Beygood1992

“Very well spoken. Twins shouldn’t have someone causing division between them, and it’s so sad to watch.”
