Shatta Wale Challenges Stonebwoy to a Dancehall Showdown for Supremacy

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy

The longstanding debate over who holds the title of ‘Dancehall King’ in Ghana has taken a new turn, as renowned dancehall artist, Shatta Wale has thrown down the gauntlet to his colleague Stonebwoy.

The ‘I Know My Level’ crooner, has issued a public challenge to Stonebwoy, calling for a showdown at the Accra Sports Stadium to settle the score once and for all.

For years, the rivalry between Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy has been no secret, with the two Dancehall heavyweights frequently sparring on various platforms about who is the true champion of the genre in Ghana.

In a Facebook post, Shatta Wale issued his challenge to Stonebwoy.

“I am issuing a formal challenge to @stonebwoy and his fans to meet me at the Accra Sports Stadium to resolve the ‘Dancehall King’ title dispute. If he and his fans decline this invitation, he should refrain from identifying as a Dancehall artiste, as I consider him a Reggae artiste. I assure the nation’s leaders that this will be a healthy, structured competition. Interested sponsors can contact our management teams.”

Ghanaian Dancehall sensation Shatta Wale surpassed one million YouTube subscribers in January this year.

Renowned for his dynamic stage presence and contagious beats, this iconic musician has amassed a massive international fan base, captivating audiences with his vibrant music and distinctive style.

The ‘Gringo’ hitmaker reached one million subscribers in January. Eight months after hitting this milestone, YouTube reportedly sent him a plaque celebrating his achievement.

Only a few Ghanaian artists have reached a million subscribers so far. Sarkodie hit the enviable milestone last year and became the first Ghanaian artist to do so.

Shatta Wale followed suit about half a year later, ahead of Black Sherif, who became the youngest to hit the mark.

Ghanaian songstress Gyakie and Shatta Wale’s rival Stonebwoy, with 748,000 and 727,000 subscribers, respectively, are among the candidates tipped to join the club next.

Shatta Wale’s manager, Sammy Flex, took to social media to hail the artiste and his fanbase for their enviable record.

He shared his thoughts after flaunting the plaque online.

“This is for Shatta Wale’s YouTube page for clocking one million subscribers. My man has been hiding it somewhere in his room until I went to his apartment last weekend.

“Congratulations to all Shatta Movement fans globally for making this happen, and kudos to our boss Shatta Wale for always working harder than even expected. The works bring the results we always enjoy. #Safa #ShattaMusic.”

This remarkable accomplishment solidifies Shatta Wale’s status as a pioneer in the music industry, establishing new benchmarks and paving the way for emerging artists within the African dancehall scene.
