With a few days to get to elections, popular dancehall artiste, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr, better known as Shatta Wale, has asked his admirers not to engage in violence before, during, and after the December 7 presidential and parliamentary elections.
He encouraged his fans to go out and vote for their preferred candidates and return home peacefully.
Shatta Wale told TV3 after pledging to peace that people know that he, Shatta Wale, is more concerned about his country he is in more than anything especially when it comes to elections in the country. He said:
“So basically, this year is an election year, and all I tell my fans every time on my social media pages is to be themselves. To support one political party is not the problem but it is how well you are educated about politics and I believe most of my fans are educated about politics.
“We are not into those times when we will want to go into violence. This election has been preached well and I have preached to my fans and I believe this is a year where we are going to have smooth elections that everybody will be happy about”.
He also added that because of how he has preached peace to his fans, they are ever ready to accept whoever wins this year’s election and give out their full support to whoever wins the Presidential seat.
“My fans are ready to support this country to reach the level where it wants to go, so, I tell my fans to be calm and go and vote for your candidate and let us see who flies out the golden colors.”
Shatta Wale did not end his sermon of peace there as he took to his Twitter to iterate the need for pace in Ghana.
According to the musician, Ghana will be the biggest winner in the elections if the peace we are enjoying now continues even after the elections and added that the youth should not be influenced by any political person to incite conflict.
“I will continue to say this, Ghana will be the biggest winner after the elections on Monday. As citizens, we are very discerning and know what the peace we are currently enjoying means to us.
“If any politician comes to tell you to go and fight in this year’s elections ask them the whereabouts of their children and family members #SM4Peace” he advised his fans.
He also mentioned that the same people the youth will go and fight over are on good terms therefore, it will not be wise enough to engage in a war.
“Both @NAkufoAddo and @JDMahama are good friends, why should you allow yourself to be influenced to create confusion in the country due to elections? Think twice ghetto youth. The future is in your hands, use your THUMBS, not your ARMS, be wise and vote in peace #SM4Peace”.
His fans could not agree with him less as they commented on his post and praised him for preaching peace.
Shatta Wale will not be the only celebrity to propagate peace as several celebrities have taken to their various social media handles to preach peace to their followers and fans, and the need to maintain peace in this year’s general election.
