Shatta Wale Recounts Trauma He Experienced Amid Parents Split Up

Shatta Wale

Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has recounted the trauma and hardships he went through due to his parents break up.

Shatta Wale in a Facebook live video disclosed that growing up, he did not live under the care of both parents due to a broken home and was greatly affected by that experience.

According to him, this breakup affected his sanity as he had always yearned to live under the care of both parents.

He revealed that he was always labeled as a disrespectful son if he complained about his parents’ actions. This he noted caused him to flee home for his peace, rendering him homeless.

“Growing up, I lived with my parents for a while but they did not help me. They made a mistake and broke up. They created a broken home; our home was broken and it affected me so much. Our broken home affected me. Anytime I talked or complained about this, they labeled me disrespectful. So, I left them. I left the house. I run from my parents.

“You know what my parents put me through? Because of them, I slept on the streets, and in front of stores. Those days, it was the prostitutes at Nkrumah Circle who were watching over me. I slept at filling stations at Circle including the one that got burnt. I slept on the streets of Adabraka and so on.”

According to Shatta Wale, he further developed a trauma response of isolating others.

He claimed that similar to his earlier escape from his parents, he still doesn’t think twice about running away from those who cause him trouble.

“As a result, I started running from stress, running from people who would stress me. That’s where I learned how to cut people off because I don’t want stress. I cut people off without thinking twice. I am the chief cutter. I have learned that in life, it is important to cut off anyone who wants to bring negativity into your life.”

Shatta Wale Refutes Claims of Abandoning Mother

It has since been the trend that anytime Shatta Wale engages in a feud with people online, he is often ‘slapped’ with the claims of abandoning his mother.

Although the dancehall musician has fought this assertion severally, he has taken a step further to list some of the things he has provided his mother to cushion her life.

To prove that he has not abandoned his mother as people claim, the dancehall musician recounted how he purchased four cars for his mother, and rented an apartment for her in a plush neighborhood in Accra, among others.

Shatta Wale’s disclosure comes on the back of some netizens lambasting him for not taking care of his mother and yet diverting all his energy towards attacking Stonebwoy.

Earlier, after launching a series of attacks at Stonebwoy on social media, Ayisha Modi berated Shatta Wale for not channeling the same energy into taking care of his mother.

However, addressing these claims, which are fast becoming a ‘label’, Shatta Wale revealed that he does a lot for his mother.

“Everyone in my life has spent my money including my parents. That’s why when I hear people talk about my mother, you amaze me. People actually think I am not sensible enough, they think I abandoned my mother. They think I don’t take care of my mother.

“I gave my mother four cars and rented a house at an estate for her. You don’t know about these things yet you talk nonsense about me all the time. All the good things I did for her, she doesn’t appreciate.”
