The 2025 TGMAs are looming, and while many anticipate the return of dancehall king Shatta Wale, his participation remains uncertain.
This follows a recent statement from his manager, Sammy Flex, who, while expressing his desire for his artiste to attend, acknowledged that the final decision lies with Shatta Wale himself.
“It’s my wish, not Shatta’s. We have a boss, and we can’t force things to happen. If he’s not ready, I can’t force him.”

Flex’s comments highlight the ongoing tension surrounding Shatta Wale’s relationship with the TGMA organizers, Charterhouse.
The artist’s absence from the 2019 awards, following a public altercation with fellow dancehall artist Stonebwoy, led to a ban on both.
While the ban was lifted in 2021, a sense of lingering animosity seems to persist between them. Despite this, Flex believes Shatta Wale has achieved a level of success that transcends competition.
“He’s reached the God level of music, and most young musicians look up to him as an inspiration. My appeal is for him to go and support the younger artists because any artiste who wins will surely mention his name.”

Flex’s call for unity echoes the desire for a more collaborative and supportive environment within the Ghanaian music industry. However, the final decision on Shatta Wale’s attendance rests with the artiste himself.
“He’s already achieved a lot, and doesn’t need to compete with anyone. If he decides he’s not going, then it’s fine.”

Whether Shatta Wale chooses to attend the TGMA this year remains to be seen.
His decision will likely have significant implications for the event’s overall atmosphere and the future of the relationship between him and the organizers.
Sammy Flex also stated that his artist has shown love to the media industry more than any Ghanaian artist.
He stated the only people Shatta Wale has problems with are those media guys who want to tarnish his brand. “Some people don’t understand what Shatta Wale has been saying and this is the problem between him and some media people,” he disclosed.
“You can’t say that Shatta Wale has gone a whole year without talking to the media and he has friends in the media who deal with him in different ways. Thank God that Shatta Wale has a manager who is a true media person so if Shatta Wale says he doesn’t want to deal with the media then obviously it is those who have problems with him.
“Those criticizing his music and using their platforms to tarnish his brand to ruin his career, those media people are those that Shatta Wale is having problems with. Over the years, Shatta Wale is someone who has shown the media people love, more than any artiste because every media platform he goes to, he gives money to the host and the pundits.”

Shatta Wale Spends Time With Daughter
The Award-winning Ghanaian dancehall courted attention after a video of him with his eldest daughter Cherissa surfaced on social media.
In a TikTok video, Shatta Wale was spotted recording a video of his daughter and others as they interacted with each other.
In the video, Cherissa beamed with a smile as she spent quality time with his father in his newly acquired Rolls Royce Cullinan for the first time.
The SM boss got Cherissa and the other lady laughing as he acknowledged them as his daughters. It appeared the dancehall musician had gone to pick up the two young ladies and take them out as he questioned whether he had arrived at their home or earlier.
In the video, Cherissa looked all grown up and unrecognizable as she had matured from a little girl to a woman.
Shatta Wale has built a strong and close relationship with his daughter Cherissa. Over the years, the SM boss has shared footage of himself spending time with his eldest child and son Majesty, who he birthed with his former fiancee Michy GH.
