Ghanaian music icon, Stonebwoy has opened up on why he failed to appear at the 3Music SallahFest in April 2024 even though he was announced as a headline act alongside rival dancehall artist Shatta Wale.
Stonebwoy clarified that the fallout was due to Sadiq’s decision to advertise the event with flyers, contrary to their agreement.
“They (the organizers) were in contact with my team, but by the time they would even finish for me to hear the outcome, Baba Sadiq had posted a flyer. He even posted the wrong flyer. I don’t know what his plans were. So that was what broke us, and we couldn’t go. And we communicated that.
“If we had ill intentions, we would have gone ahead to say that we could not make it but I pushed it away and suggested we leave it so that the show can flow. Then after, maybe if somebody asks, we can always say, oh, ‘I was sick. I was not feeling well’. So it wouldn’t be like I was going to disrupt somebody else’s show.”

Stonebwoy expressed his dismay over the personal attacks and lies spread after the incident, which even drew concern from his family.
“And then the insults of my life came through. I think the insults went so far I had calls from my father, et cetera. We were like, ‘Bro, what levels of lies are these? These lies are too much to contain’. But we just chilled and that’s how we’ve chilled the whole time.
“Nobody can tell me that they’ve seen a reply from any of my people concerning all that misappropriation and that attack on my character. So whatever the plan was or is, only he can answer and tell us what his plans were or are to this day.”

Stonebwoy’s explanation comes as the owner of 3Music, Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu explained that upon getting through to Stonebwoy’s camp after the SallahFest event, the latter’s manager expressed discontent with the addition of Shatta Wale to the concert line-up, which was a significant factor in the musicians’ decision not to attend.
Stonebwoy Clarifies Lack of Response Not Intentional
Stonebwoy explained why he did not respond to a congratulatory message from fellow artist King Promise following his win as the TGMA 2024 Artiste of the Year.
He clarified that the lack of response was not intentional, nor did it indicate any ill will between the two.
“I didn’t think to respond. I just saw it. There are so many people to whom I have not responded with their congratulatory messages. So I think it’s in that basket, believe me. And there’s nothing attached to that at all. I’m not that petty. I beg we shouldn’t take it that far.
“There’s no bad blood. It cannot be like that. King Promise and I do not have anything going on. King Promise is one of our Junior brothers in the industry. I do not believe I have any problems with my brother personally. I do not believe so at all. That’s what I can state.”

Stonebwoy also made a plea to the public and fans, urging them not to read too much into the situation or create unnecessary drama.
“People call you; sometimes your own friends will call you, and you miss their calls a few times. But there’s no bad blood. I don’t want anybody to start creating anything. If anybody chooses to create anything, then they’ll deal with it the way it is. But I can’t get involved.”

It can be recalled that Afrobeat sensation King Promise, despite his expectations and strong support from fans and celebrities alike, lost out to Stonebwoy for the prestigious Artiste of the Year title at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) 2024.
However, after the ceremony, King Promise, who won three awards, took to social media to congratulate Stonebwoy for winning the title. His message, however, was not acknowledged by the Dancehall artiste.
