Winner of the Artiste of the Year (AOTY) award for the 25th TGMA, Stonebwoy has reacted to the debate that surfaced about the AOTY award between himself and King Promise before the event.
Speaking for the first time since winning the award, Stonebwoy stated he never got to know about the debate on social media until a week before the event.
“One thing I felt was like I wish the attention would be spread out across all the nominees because it was not only a Stonebwoy and King Promise thing.
“I felt that if the attention was extended to the other five or six nominees then it will now become a thing of fact. Limiting it to two artistes almost always takes away the fact that all nominees have worked and not just the two.”
Stonebwoy
Stonebwoy believes the fans should not determine the top two contenders for the Artiste of the Year.
“Why I say that is that that is not for the fans to determine. The fans are only supposed to propel, propagate, project the works of the artiste under the year of review, and then vote that is what I think they determine.”

The “Ekelebe” hitmaker explained that it is only the criteria of the Ghana Music Awards that determine the top two artistes.
He emphasized that the action of the fans “brings a little bit of resentment and unhealthy competition” between the artistes.
In a heartfelt message, Stonebwoy expressed immense gratitude to his fans, team, and family for their unwavering support.
He emphasized how this recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication that goes into his music and performances.
He acknowledged his challenges and obstacles but highlighted that such accolades make the journey worthwhile.
The dancehall artist also took the opportunity to thank the organizers of the TGMA for recognizing his efforts and contributions to the music industry.
Livingstone Etse Satekla better known by his stage name, Stonebwoy on Friday, June 7 displayed his impeccable dance moves with the Ewe dance, Borborbor.
The Reggae Dancehall Artiste joined the Ewe dance group in honor of his second Artiste of the Year trophy at the recent Telecel Ghana Music Awards.
He joined the dance on the premises of Media General ahead of his first official interview since winning the award at the 25th TGMA. He was accompanied by Mix Master Garzy and other members of his team.
Stonebwoy earned 13 nominations at the just-ended Ghana Music Awards, taking home 6 awards on the night including the Reggae Dancehall Artiste and the Artiste of the Year award.
Stonebwoy Reacts to Baba Sadiq’s Support to King Promise
Stonebwoy reacted to Baba Sadiq’s support for King Promise to win the Artiste of the Year award at the 25th TGMA.
Baba Sadiq, a prominent personality in the entertainment industry publicly backed King Promise to pick the Artiste of the Year award prior to the event.
Stonebwoy dismissed Baba Sadiq’s opinion which suggested that King Promise deserved the Artiste of the Year Award.
The Reggae Dancehall artiste indicated that Baba Sadiq’s view lacked credibility as the results have proved that.
“I was not disappointed [for him choosing King Promise]. Eventually, I think the results have taught him that he does not hold any water when it comes to reality and it stays as an opinion.”
Stonebwoy
Stonebwoy’s response indicates that he does not value Baba Sadiq’s endorsements or opinions about awards.
One of the Ghanaian music industry’s biggest awards ceremonies is the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
