Joseph Yammin, the Former Deputy Minister for Youth, Sports and Culture and the National Organizer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has slammed the Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Bryan Acheampong, for comments he made, which have been deemed reckless.
The former NADMO coordinator scolded the Minister for Food and Agriculture’s assurance to supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at Mpraeso, that the party will do everything to retain power in 2024.
Mr. Yammin reprimanded Bryan Acheampong to focus on reviving the struggling agricultural industry and poultry sector, which he said, has left many people struggling to make ends meet.
“This is a man that has just been appointed as the Agric Minister and the sector has collapsed. And what we want to hear, is how he will revive the agric sector and not how you want to be in power because no Ghanaian, will want to see the NPP in power again.
“I used to buy maize in the 50kg bag in 2016 for GH¢35, but that same bag is being sold for GH¢200 today. Again, in 2016, we used to prepare one ton of poultry feed with GH¢700 to GH¢900 but today, we need not less than GH¢5000 to prepare the same one ton. So, if I were him, I will use that opportunity to tell the people my strategy to bring back the economy to life and not holding on to power.”

Bryan Acheampong, during a health walk at Mpraeso, said the NPP was ready to march shoulder-to-shoulder with the NDC, in all aspects of the 2024 elections. The comments have been widely condemned but the NPP insists Mr. Acheampong said nothing wrong.
Ernest Owusu Bempah Supports Bryan Acheampong’s Comment As An Answer To NDC’s ‘Foolish Rants’
Ernest Owusu Bempah, a Deputy Communications Director for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), sided with Bryan Acheampong’s recent political statement.
He claimed in an interview today that the Member of Parliament for Abetifi Constituency’s comment, was somewhat “deliberate” in response to the political threats by the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“What he said was to answer former President John Mahama and Johsnson Asiedu Nketiah . . . we are sounding a warning to them. We will indeed match them boot-for-boot because we also have the men.”

Bryan Acheampong was emphatic that his party, the New Patriotic Party will ensure that they remain in power in the 2024 general elections. Mr. Acheampong maintained that the NPP is not ready to hand over power to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), therefore, his party will go to the election fully prepared.
Addressing party faithful after a health walk through the principal streets of Mpraeso on Saturday, April 8, 2023, Bryan Acheampong stressed that, “we will show NDC that we have the men if they want to intimidate, harass us or do anything foolish during the 2024 elections. It will not happen that we will hand over power to NDC, we’ll use any means for NPP to stay in power.”
