The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources and Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has assured the national leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of the commitment of his constituents in the party’s efforts to “break the 8”.
He boldly declared that he would win the parliamentary seat for the NPP and that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would get all the support he needed in the Damongo constituency to become the next President of the Republic. He, however, recognized that the elections in the Savannah Region will be keenly contested but the NPP and Dr. Bawumia will be victorious in all those elections by the grace of God.
“We will win Damongo for the NPP, and we will secure a significant number of seats for the New Patriotic Party, with God ensuring this success. Let us unite and back Jinapor, back Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and back the NPP to win the Savannah Region for the incumbent government.”

He expressed his appreciation to his constituents for their support and thanked the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, for the confidence he has reposed in him.
He made these remarks at a ceremony to officially acclaim him as the approved Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency.
Damongo is one of seven constituencies in the Savannah Region that has never been won by the NPP since 1997. However, Mr. Jinapor contested for the first time and won with over 54% of the valid votes cast, making him the Member of Parliament for the Damongo Constituency.
Unity Needed To ‘Break 8’
The General Secretary of the NPP and Special Guest of Honour at the event, Justin Frimpong Kodua, emphasized the need for unity among party faithful in the lead-up to the 2024 general elections and the overall development of Damongo.
He commended the MP, Samuel Abu Jinapor, for his industriousness and affability towards his constituents, while encouraging him not to relent in working hard to ensure that the party remains in government after the 2024 general elections.
“It is important we stay united as a party, going into the 2024 general elections. A united Savannah can win the region by storm and secure victory in the election, making Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the President of the Republic while maintaining Mr. Samuel Abu Jinapor as Member of Parliament for Damongo.”

Also taking a turn to address hundreds of New Patriotic Party enthusiasts at the event was the Minister for Information-designate, Fatimatu Abubakar, who said that she was not surprised at the news of Mr. Samuel Jinapor going unopposed in the NPP parliamentary primaries as there is evidence of his hard work in nearly every sphere of the constituent lives, spanning infrastructure, education, sports, employment, and healthcare.
Reflecting on her working relationship with Mr. Jinapor, she stated that the Member of Parliament for Damongo and Minister for Lands and Natural Resources is a reflection of humility, selflessness, dedication, and vision. She was deeply convinced that Mr. Jinapor had gotten to the current level of his political career because of the virtues he works with.
She added that Mr. Samuel Jinapor has delivered on every single promise he made to the people in his 2020 campaign, listing the construction of roads, astroturf, health centers, and other significant infrastructural works as well as the creation of educational opportunities for youth across the Savannah Region.
Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, indicated that he is not surprised at the rise of Mr. Jinapor in the political space, having worked with him as Local Government Minister, and described him as a man who always looks out for the interest of others. He added that the success chalked during his tenure as Local Government Minister could not have been achieved without the hard work of Samuel Jinapor.
Taking his turn to speak to party loyalists was the Savannah Regional Chairman of the NPP, Alhaji Sulemana Iddrisu, who said that the good works of Samuel Jinapor in the Damongo Constituency are a rallying point for the NPP to build on so they can increase the votes the party had in the 2020 general elections.
He signaled to the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the party would leverage the tremendous work of Samuel Jinapor in the constituency to establish its dominance across the Savannah Region.
