A credible voter register is an essential element of any democratic electoral system, forming the foundation for fair and legitimate elections.
It upholds transparency, inclusivity, and integrity, crucial for fostering public trust and confidence in the electoral process.
Accordingly, Dr. Omane Boamah, the Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, has stated that it is dangerous for the Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission (EC) to print ballot papers without a certified voters register.
Dr. Omane Boamah argued that there is institutional decay in the country, asserting that currently, apart from the NDC, no other institution or individual possesses the courage to hold the corrupt NPP government accountable for its democratic excesses.
He cited the violence during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election and the killing of eight Ghanaians during the 2020 elections as evidence.
Additionally, he referenced the invasion of Parliament by armed military personnel on January 6, 2021, which occurred without repercussions, describing it as a stain on the conscience of Parliament.

According to Omane Boamah, the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government shows no concern for these violations.
“Given the intentional criminality supervised and committed by this government and the NPP’s fear of withdrawal from the Flagstaff House after leaving office on midnight January 6, 2025, Akufo Addo prefers to die than to hand over to John Mahama.
“The above has emboldened the NPP to go all out to try to rig the elections without any public censure. And evidently, the Jean Mensah-led Electoral Commission is also aiding this rigging machinery. But they’ll fail! They’ll fail because we shall expose them every step of the way and hold their feet collectively to the fire of accountability when President Mahama is sworn into office on January 7, 2025”.
Dr. Omane Boamah
The NDC stalwart questioned Jean Mensah’s intentions, suggesting that if not to assist the NPP in rigging the election, she should not proceed with printing ballot papers without a certified voter register.
He further asked which ballot statistics she intends to rely on if the register has not been verified.
Dr. Omane Boamah Questions Ballot Accuracy
Furthermore, Dr. Omane Boamah raised concerns about how the Electoral Commission could determine the number of ballot papers, including the allowable excess percentage, to print for each constituency without having accurate voter numbers.
Omane Boamah stated that his insistence on addressing these electoral issues stems from the fact that once the election results are declared—whether flawed or legitimate—the only democratic recourse available to the aggrieved party is to challenge the outcome in court. “Meanwhile, for obvious reasons, President Mahama has emphatically declared he is not resorting to the courts”.
He stated that strong and credible evidence indicates the national popular vote favors the NDC.

However, he indicated that these votes could be undermined by the NPP’s malicious agenda to stuff ballot boxes with approximately one million pre-thumb printed ballots, which may originate from excess ballots circulating in the system.
“Recall that in the 2020 elections, criminally printed ballot papers were discovered by the NDC in one of the Electoral Commission’s accredited printing firms. Yet no sanctions have been occasioned.
The fact is, in the heat of sorting and counting of ballots at the polling stations, very few people check for fake or genuine ballots. Even if your agent identifies any (which they will this year with EAGLEEYES), the best they can do is not to sign the pink sheet if the Presiding Officer is compromised”.
Dr. Omane Boamah
He emphasized that while failure to sign the pink sheet does not invalidate the declared results, all credible opinion polls show strong support for John Dramani Mahama and the NDC.
However, Omane Boamah stressed that the only way to ensure this victory is to reset Ghana and recover all the looted assets.
He asserted the importance of continuing to expose the Electoral Commission’s and the NPP’s rigging schemes.
He emphasized the need to adequately prepare the NDC’s printing, polling, sorting, counting, and collation agents for the elections.
Omane Boamah noted that the NDC must be ready to fearlessly resist any acts of rigging, oppression, and intimidation before, during, and after the 2024 elections.
