The Member of Parliament for Tamale South and former Minority Leader in Parliament, Honorable Haruna Iddrisu has expressed optimism in the National Democratic Congress Flagbearer Former President John Dramani Mahama to win the 2024 general elections.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Upper East Regional Women’s Wing Working Committee of the National Democratic Congress, the Tamale South legislator argued that Mr Mahama would overwhelmingly win the 2024 election if it is organized in a very transparent, fair and credible manner.
According to Mr Iddrisu, he is very confident that the electorates in Ghana will vote in the 2024 general elections bearing in mind their standard of living and the state of the country, hence the National Democratic Congress flagbearer Former President John Dramani Mahama is in the better position to be voted for by Ghanaians as President.
He noted that the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama’s experiences of serving in various capacities including being the Vice President and subsequently the President of the country set him apart from his competitors.

Moreover, the Tamale South Member of Parliament admonished members and supporters of the opposition National Democratic Congress to refrain from any act of complacency in mobilizing towards the victory of the party in the 2024 general elections.
He cautioned that despite clear evidence that the National Democratic Congress and its flagbearer, Former President John Dramani Mahama would win the 2024 general elections, there is a need for the members of the party to work extra hard to increase the fortunes of the party in the 2024 general elections.
The former Minority Leader also urged members and supporters of the party in the Upper East Region to work hard to win all the fifteen parliamentary seats in the region to help the National Democratic Congress form a Majority in the next parliament.
Again, Mr Iddrisu called on the communicators of the National Democratic Congress in the Upper East Region to intensify their commitment to popularizing the policies of the party and the major achievements the party has chalked while in government over the years to convince the electorates ahead of the 2024 general elections.
“2024 offers the NDC the best opportunity to recapture political power, and we all must endeavour to work to support John Dramani Mahama”.

In addition, the Tamale South Member of Parliament and former Minority Leader in Parliament, Honorable Haruna Iddrisu called the media both the print and the broadcast media to discharge its mandate as the fourth estate of the realm and hold the New Patriotic Party administration accountable as it did to the National Democratic Congress and Former President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
Meanwhile, the Member of Parliament in Pusiga Constituency in the Upper East Region, Honorable Laadi Ayii Ayamba who chaired the grand occasion stressed the need for the opposition National Democratic Congress to seize power from the New Patriotic Party administration and also secure an overwhelming majority in Parliament in the 2024 general elections.
According to her, a clear majority for the National Democratic Congress in the next Parliament would ensure the party can effectively and efficiently implement its major policies and programs without severe opposition.
“I want to plead with you. Do not let us get equal numbers again. Let us fight to get better numbers in Parliament. The current numbers are giving us a lot of issues.”
