Fred Nuamah, Ghanaian actor, businessman, and politician, has revealed his plans to continue his political goals, despite withdrawing from the upcoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ayawaso West-Wuogon parliamentary primary contest.
The Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Movie Awards, discussed his choice to withdraw from the competition, which gave his personal friend, renowned actor John Dumelo, the advantage.
Fred Nuamah made it clear that his withdrawal from the political scene was only a brief pause in his involvement, rather than an end to his political ambitions altogether. “While my decision to pull back from the Ayawaso West-Wuogon NDC parliamentary primaries might indicate a temporary break from my political ambitions, it doesn’t necessarily mean that I have given up on politics. No!” he asserted, speaking of his future plans.
He claimed that he is dedicated to his party and that he is prepared to participate in politics in a variety of ways. “I will serve my party and Ghanaians in several ways and at different levels. The future will take care of itself,” he stated confidently.
Given his fierce pursuit of the position earlier in the year, many were surprised by Fred Nuamah’s statement on August 7, 2023 that he was withdrawn from the NDC’s Ayawaso West-Wuogon parliamentary election. Given his strong acquaintance with John Dumelo, who ran for the same seat in the previous general elections, the revelation not only made headlines but also raised eyebrows. Their political ambitions initially seemed to put a strain on their friendship. Nuamah then clarified that Dumelo had given the go-ahead for him to run for the NDC nomination in the Ayawaso West-Wuogon seat because Dumelo was interested in a different constituency.
Despite these complex relationships, Nuamah stated that their friendship was unaffected by his decision to challenge Dumelo in the primary elections.
In a stunning act of togetherness, Nuamah stated his conviction that whatever had occurred had really deepened their relationship. “As I’m speaking to you now, I have already gotten in touch with my brother and I have extended my endorsement and support for his candidacy,” he opined.

Additionally, Nuamah’s support is more than just lip service; he reaffirmed his commitment to organizing his party’s members to support Dumelo’s campaign, creating a unified front for the NDC to win the constituency.
Following the decision of his best friend, Fred Nuamah to withdraw from the NDC primary for the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat, Ghanaian actor and politician John Dumelo, expressed his sincere thanks and his plans to take the seat from the NPP.
John Dumelo acknowledged the momentous news while tweeting his reaction, “I just got off the phone with Fred Nuamah. I thanked him for stepping down and throwing his support behind me. Together we will make sure I win the Ayawaso West parliamentary seat for the NDC and also make sure @JDMahama becomes president in 2025. #idey4u.”
There was evident strife within the party as Fred Nuamah announced his desire to run in the same district as John Dumelo. However, Fred Nuamah’s decision to drop out of the contest highlighted the need for a strong party unity, particularly in the lead-up to the key general elections in 2024.
