The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, during his Building Ghana Tour in the Savannah Region, has accused the incumbent government of neglecting the six newly created regions in matters of development. He claimed that the six new regions created by the incumbent government were created in names only.
He stated that for a region to be called one, it must have certain amenities and institutions in place. He assured the people of the Savannah region of his commitment to providing the Savannah region and the other five regions with these basic amenities if the NDC gains political power in 2025 after the 2024 General Elections in December.
“If you go to the hospital today, the majority of cases are typhoid cases and that is because of polluted water. If not for Gallus who’s brought a water tanker and is supplying clean drinking water from place to place, most of us would have been in the hospital today”.

The NDC flagbearer also disclosed that before his party’s exit from office in 2016, his government proposed creating a water supply project for the Damango community which the minority in parliament (the NPP) then, opposed. He asserted that the NPP had said it would create the water project if it formed a government in 2017 as it was sure of its victory in the 2016 General Elections.
The former President emphasized that after eight years of being in office, the NPP government has failed to deliver on its promise of providing portable drinking water for the community. “What amount of money is better than having your own water supply system that will make sure that you get good water to drink?” he quizzed.
Issues Of Development And Peace
The Overload of Domongo, Yagbonwura Bikunuto Jewu Soale (I), admonished the flagbearer of the NDC to give due attention to issues of poverty, development, underemployment, and unemployment among the youth when he returns to power after the 2024 General Election.
The Yagbnwura entreated the former President to bridge the development gap between the North and the South. He asserted that the development gap between these two regions is enormous and should be addressed to ensure a reduction in poverty in the Northern belt.
“It is only when you achieve this that posterity will be kind to you. Your decisions should reflect a commitment to social justice and the well-being of all citizens. Strive to create an environment where every citizen regardless of their ethnicity, religion or gender thrives peacefully”.

The Building Ghana Tour embarked on by the NDC flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, aims at seeking the concerns of Ghanaians to feed into the party’s presidential campaign manifesto for the 2024 General Elections.
The Building Ghana Tour involves activities such as town hall meetings, courtesy calls on local and traditional leaders, community outreach programmes, and conversations with NDC supporters and various stakeholders among many others.
The major focus of the tour is to share the NDC’s prospective policies with the people of Ghana. The party uses the opportunity to share its center policy, the 24-Hour Economy, which has resonated well with the people so far in the various regions.
As part of its strategic plan to attain victory in the 2024 General Elections, the NDC has also constituted a Manifesto Committee which is in charge of the party’s presidential manifesto. The Manifesto Committee recently met with a group of researchers to seek their views on the best way the 24-Hour Economy policy could better work for Ghanaians.
Meanwhile, the former President will continue his tour of the Savannah region as he aims to build rapport with the electorate and spread his policy proposals across to the people of the Savannah Region in hopes that they resonate with the people.
