The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama, has kicked off a three-day tour of the Western Region as part of his campaign to reclaim the presidency in the upcoming December 7, 2024, general elections.
The Mahama4Change2024 Campaign announced the tour through a press statement signed by campaign spokesperson Joyce Bawah Mogtari Esq., who also doubles as the Special Aide to the former President.
“Mr Mahama will meet with diverse groups, including religious leaders, the Regional House of Chiefs, traditional authorities, and, importantly, young Ghanaians who are grappling with many challenges brought about”.

The tour’s themed “Building the Ghana We Want Together”, according to Bawah Mogatari underscores former President Mahama’s vision of inclusive development and robust democratic governance.
She pointed out that the campaign’s activities aim to highlight the NDC’s policy proposals while deepening public discourse on critical national issues, including governance, youth development, and economic revitalization.
Concerns Over Electoral Integrity
In a significant portion of the statement, the Spokesperson for the Mahama 2024 Campaign, Joyce Bawah Mogtari Esq. expressed deep concerns about alleged attempts by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) to undermine Ghana’s electoral process.
According to the statement, the NDC has “credible information” suggesting the illicit printing of fake ballot papers by elements within the NPP and the campaign of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari claimed the strategy involves introducing pre-thumb-printed ballots into the voting process, as well as voter intimidation tactics in NPP strongholds.“The NDC will not countenance any attempts to undermine the will of the people of Ghana,” the statement emphasized, adding that the party is prepared to “forcefully resist any acts of electoral fraud“.
Call for Electoral Integrity
The statement reiterated the National Democratic Congress’s call on the Electoral Commission (EC), President Nana Akufo-Addo, and Vice President Bawumia to ensure a free, fair, and credible electoral process devoid of intimidation or vote tampering.
“We remind all Ghanaians that the power is in your hands. Your voice matters, and together, we will ensure that each and every vote counts,” the statement urged, while encouraging vigilance among voters and polling agents.
As part of his Western Region tour, former President Mahama aims to emphasize the NDC’s commitment to addressing the country’s socio-economic challenges, particularly those facing the youth.
“To follow the Mahama campaign live, tune in to WoezorTV for live broadcasts and updates on all our campaign activities. You can also stay connected through John Mahama’s official social media channels”.

With rising unemployment, access to quality education, and healthcare being key campaign issues, the former President is expected to outline actionable solutions.
The Western Region tour is expected to galvanize grassroots support for the NDC while also serving as a platform to amplify its policy alternatives for addressing the governance and economic challenges facing Ghanaians.
