Mr Michael Nii Yarbio Annan, a disqualified aspirant in the opposition National Democratic Congress parliamentary primaries in the Odododiodio Constituency in the Greater Accra Region has denied reports, suggesting that he instigated the destruction and vandalism in the Odododiodio Constituency and the party’s headquarters at Adabraka on Wednesday, November 29 2023 after his disqualification by the party.
In a statement released in response to the claims, Mr Nii Yarbio indicated that he had no hand or knowledge in the disturbances that occurred in the Odododiodio Constituency and the National Democratic Congress headquarters by some alleged supporters of the party from Odododiodio Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.
According to Mr Nii Yarbio, he particularly regretted learning that such disturbances and destructions were even extended to the national headquarters of the National Democratic Congress and emphasized that he had no hand in such an unfortunate act.
“My attention has been drawn to media reports of various acts of vandalism and disturbances in parts of the Odododiodioo Constituency following the rather surprising and belated decision by the Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of our party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to disqualify my candidature for the Parliamentary Primaries of the NDC’s Odododiodioo Constituency. I wish to categorically and unreservedly condemn and dissociate myself from these acts of vandalism that have occurred and further wish to place on the record that I have neither instigated, whether overtly or tacitly, these abominable acts nor do I support these acts in the least.

Again, Mr Nii Yarbio denied allegations that supporters that engaged in the act of vandalism and disturbances in the National Democratic Congress party headquarters and the Odododiodio Constituency were affiliated with him and his campaign.
Nii Yarbio Commits To Party’s Laid-Down Procedures
Moreover, Mr Michael Nii Yarbio reiterated his commitment and adherence to the laid-down procedures that guide the conduct of the National Democratic Congress internal electioneering process and indicated that he would follow such procedures outlined in the party’s constitution to address his grievances following his disqualifications from the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Odododiodio Constituency.
He noted that his lawyers have begun studying the decision by the Functional Executive of the National Democratic Congress and following the advice from his lawyers he will take necessary steps at the appropriate time.
Mr Nii Yarbio expressed his commitment to provide the needed assistance to any person who suffered any losses or injuries arising from the disturbances that happened in the Odododiodio Constituency and the headquarters of the National Democratic Congress on Wednesday, November 29 2023.
“At this time, whilst I can understand that my supporters may feel aggrieved and disappointed by the decision of the FEC, I wish to assure all my supporters and well-wishers that in every civil society, there are laid down rules and regulations for pursuing grievances and the NDC, being a lawful entity, has itself enshrined in its Constitution avenues for addressing grievances”.

He thus admonished his supporters and sympathizers to desist from any act that would indicate an expression of grievances following the decision of the Functional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress to disqualify him.
Mr Nii Yarbio therefore urged all members and supporters of the National Democratic Congress in the Odododiodio Constituency to work together regardless of whoever becomes the party’s’ parliamentary candidate in the constituency to retain the seat and also work for the victory of Former President John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general election
“ I wish to urge all true believers of my vision for the Odododiodioo Constituency to remain calm and resolute towards our ultimate goal of retaining the seat for the great NDC Party. We are one great family under the multi-coloured Umbrella and must keep our eyes on the prize, specifically as it relates to retaining the Odododiodioo seat for the NDC and returning our flagbearer, H.E. President John Dramani Mahama, to power to salvage this broken economy of this NPP Government and our national pride. Onwards to victory for the great NDC!!!”.
