James Agbey, an operative and the Director of Operations for the Greater Accra National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 elections, has cautioned that the NDC will not have it easy in the general elections of 2024.
He warned the party against becoming complacent by pointing out that all former appointees who should have known better are now concentrating their efforts on their own presidential aspirations in 2028. He feared that the NDC party could be in a dire situation and possibility of breaking apart after the 2024 general elections.
“They have relegated Mahama and the 2024 agenda to the background and now are lacing their boots in the background to take over from Mahama in furtherance of their gluttonous self-indulgence.
“It is so shameful that these people are oblivious of the fact that the NDC has a lot of work to do in order to recapture power in 2024.”
James Agbey
James Agbey felt compelled to make this public declaration in response to many claims made by a number of former John Dramani Mahama appointees that the election of 2024 is a done deal for the former President.
He asserted that these former appointees, however, appeared to have committed the usual mistake of thinking that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) had already lost the year 2024. He felt confident and factually able to state that this kind of complacency is the reason the NDC found itself in opposition in 2020 elections.
Mr. Agbey alleged that the former appointees appeared to have forgotten that the NDC also lost the 2016 elections, as a result of the former appointees’ marginalization of honorable and devoted party members.
“It has been an immensely traumatic and painful experience for several NDC activists who sacrificed for this party and yet have nothing to show for it due to the actions and inactions of former Mahama appointees. The NDC under Mills/Mahama was in office for 8 years and yet NDC young men and women are the poorest in society.
“Some of them have turned into beggars due to the greed of these same Mahama appointees. Today, these rudderless former appointees are putting themselves in pole position to run for presidential office in 2028. How dare they? Who told them 2024 is over?”

We Are Ready To Offer Resistance
James Agbey brought to the remembrance of the NDC former appointees about Bryan Acheampong recently informing the whole world about the NPP not being ready to hand over power to the NDC. “He also mentioned that they have the men– he told the world that his men are battle ready to unleash terror,” he indicated
“This same Bryan Acheampong as minister of state in charge of national security caused havoc at Ayawaso West Wuogon by-elections. Hon Sam George was a victim in that operation. The NDC and its followers were beaten to a pulp and we are still being continuously aggrieved at every turn.
“And instead of the NDC apparatchiks showcasing their capacity to meet the NPP squarely, we have these former appointees displaying their intellectual and political deficiency in the market place. Where are the men in the NDC? Where are the courageous men and women who once made the NDC a power house?”
James Agbey
The Greater Accra NDC’s Director of Operations questioned if the party currently possessed the men necessary to confront the NPP in the 2024 elections. He claimed to have met with a number of other NDC operatives who expressed complete disillusionment with the actions of the former appointees.
According to Mr. James Agbey, the party has reached a point where it is weak and demoralized. As a result, he is issuing this message as a clear warning to the NDC’s rank and file because he will not stand by and allow the former Mahama appointees’ complacency to drive the NDC even further into the political abyss.
“We are ready to stand up and be counted. And if by our dint of handwork, we win power, we will continue to serve as vanguard of the administration and insist that the NDC rewards hardwork and not patronage.
“We are ready to offer resistance and chase all bald heads out of the party. The shameful attack on NDC activism by former Mahama appointees must stop now. Long Live Rawlings’ Revolution…Viva la revolución.”
