The Coalition Of National Youth Organizers has condemned comments made by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Suame Youth Organizer.
According to the Coalition, its attention has been drawn to an audio and video tape purported to be the voice of the NDC constituency Youth Organizer talking about how they intend to kill people in the 2024 Elections which he believes will win the NDC power.
“We are of the view that his comments are born out of ignorance and unnecessary bravado. Such comments are not only Reckless but treacherous which portrays an intention to commit crime.”

Contained in a statement dated February 8, 2023, signed by Osei Kofi Acquah, who doubles as the National Youth Organizer for CPP and the General Secretary of the Coalition of National Youth Organizers, it seized the opportunity to educate the Ghanaian Youth that Ghana is a democracy practicing country and not “demo-crazy”.
The Coalition explained that democracy is where politicians understand and accept that it is the people who will decide to engage the service or otherwise of people, because power belongs to the people in democracy. On a different breath, it described “demo-crazy” as where politicians believe that they must capture power at all cost, thus with or without the consent of the people.
“This act of Demo-Crazy leads to threats, fabrication of lies, pull him down attitude, violence and unnecessary criticism of any sitting government, all in the view of capturing power.”

Currently, the Coalition underscored that current system of governance seems to be becoming a “demo-crazy”, especially with both the NPP and the NDC “beating war drums” before, during and on most occasions, after elections.
Describing the situation as unacceptable by “young politicians” the Coalition revealed that the teething political practice within the country must be condemned.
“We are therefore calling on the NDC, especially the National Youth wing of the NDC to come out and condemn the comment made by its constituency Youth Organizer.”

It equally entreated the National Peace Council and the NCCE to extend their roundtable discussions and dialogue programs on peace and democratic stability to the constituencies.
“We are again appealing to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) formally BNI to investigate the status of the Vigilante groups of the NPP and the NDC which we believe are still being maintained in other to prevent any clash or violent acts as we head towards elections 2024.”

The comments made by the NDC Youth organizer in Suame has resulted in the Ghana Police Service launching an investigation into the matter. In a statement, the Police noted that the Ashanti Regional Police Command has initiated steps to get the NDC Suame Youth Organizer arrested to face justice. It further urged political actors to be circumspect in their utterances and actions as they work together to safeguard the peace and security of the country.
Following this, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, called on the Ghana Police Service to stop harassing one of its party’s activists who is being sought after by the security agency.
According to him, while the party does not subscribe to violence, except in cases of self-defense, it cannot overlook the genuine sentiment and frustration of people who feel helpless in the face of “incessant and unprovoked attacks and killings” under this Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.
