The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared its intention to secure over 85% out of the total presidential votes in the Volta Region in the upcoming December 2024 general elections for former President John Dramani Mahama.
This ambitious goal was announced by Egypt Kudeto, the Vice Chairperson of the Volta Regional National Democratic Congress, during a 24-hour health walk held in Kpetoe, located in the Agotime Ziope Constituency of the Volta Region.
Mr. Kudeto emphasized the importance of collective effort and financial support from party members to achieve this target.
“We are appealing that you help us financially to fuel our vehicles for campaigns. So on January 7, 2025, people will be transported to Independence Square [for the swearing-in] because John Mahama is winning [the presidential election]. Volta Region, we are giving JM more than 85%-90% [of total votes]”.

Honourable Charles Agbeve, the Member of Parliament for Agotime Ziope Constituency, echoed Mr Kudeto’s confidence, predicting a sweeping victory for the National Democratic Congress in the upcoming general elections.
He projected that the National Democratic Congress would win 150 parliamentary seats in addition to winning the presidential race convincingly.
Mr Agbeve credited the National Democratic Congress for all development projects in his constituency and criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for not initiating any projects in the area.
He cited the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama’s efforts in road construction, even while in opposition, as a testament to his commitment to nation-building.
The opposition National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament forAgotime Ziope Constituency further highlighted the New Patriotic Party administration’s failure to construct the Ho-Denu Road, despite budgetary provisions made in 2021, attributing this to the perception that the area does not vote for the NPP.
“John Mahama is in opposition but he made available bulldozers to reshape our roads. If he is not a nation-builder, then what is he? He is constructing roads in opposition, imagine what will happen when he comes to power”.

Prospect of 24-Hour Economy Policy
Highlighting the prospect of former President John Dramani Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy, Mr Agbeve affirmed that the initiative would significantly reduce unemployment, especially among the youth, and urged constituents to vote for Mr Mahama.
“For our children and the youth to have the opportunity to be enrolled into the security services, get employed, it is the 24-hour economy under John Mahama that can see this manifested. Let us vote for him”

Regarding health services, Agbeve expressed frustration over delays in clearing medical supplies donated by the Global Fund at the Tema Port, warning of repercussions if the Ministry of Health fails to clear them within a two-week ultimatum.
Moreover, Eric Edem Agbana, the National Democratic Congress’s Ketu North Parliamentary Candidate, supported Agbeve, noting his challenges in Parliament due to the NDC’s opposition status.
Mr Agbana assured the people of Agotime Ziope Constituency that their Member of Parliament, Mr Agbeve would receive a ministerial position to facilitate development in his area under a Mahama administration.
He cautioned against “skirt and blouse” voting, urging voters to fully support the National Democratic Congress in the upcoming general elections.
“Skirt and blouse? What does that mean? Do not vote skirt and blouse. When somebody tells you he is a youth, so you vote for him and Mahama, tell him you don’t know him”.
