The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced the launch date for its much-anticipated manifesto ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, in a statement pointed out that the event is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the Central Region, underscoring the party’s commitment to engaging with key electoral strongholds.

Planning Committee

Announcing the high-level Planning Committee tasked with ensuring the success of the manifesto launch, the NDC’s chief scribe noted that the committee is chaired by Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, the party’s Director of Interparty and Civil Society Relations and former Deputy General Secretary.

Strategic Importance of the Manifesto Launch

The NDC’s manifesto is expected to outline the party’s vision, policies, and strategic plans for governing Ghana should they secure victory in the upcoming December elections.

This manifesto launch is a crucial milestone in the NDC’s campaign, as it will provide the electorate with a comprehensive understanding of the party’s priorities and proposals for addressing the country’s pressing challenges.

It will serve as the blueprint for the NDC’s policy direction and electoral promises as it is expected to address critical issues such as economic management, social interventions, infrastructure development, education, and health.

Given the current socio-economic challenges facing the country, the NDC’s manifesto will likely focus on proposing solutions that resonate with the Ghanaian populace.

The Central Region, chosen as the launch location, has historically been a swing region in Ghana’s elections.

By launching the manifesto there, the NDC signals its intention to make significant inroads in a region that could play a pivotal role in determining the outcome of the 2024 elections.

The manifesto will be a critical tool in the NDC’s campaign arsenal, shaping the party’s narrative and setting the tone for the election season.

Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC’s General Secretary, who signed the official release, emphasized the importance of this event, indicating that the party is fully prepared to present a well-crafted and visionary document that will capture the aspirations of the Ghanaian people.

Earlier this week, the party launched its Youth Manifesto at the University of Professional Studies, Accra, underscoring the party’s vision for empowering Ghana’s youthful population.

Key among the various policies was the National Apprenticeship Program, a policy aimed at providing free vocational training to young Ghanaians, and the “Adwumawura” Program, a special startup initiative that aims to facilitate the creation, tracking, and mentoring of a minimum of 10,000 youth-led businesses each year.

Others include the “One Million Coders Program” aimed at training one million young Ghanaians in coding and other in-demand digital skills and the “Digital Jobs Initiative”, which is set to make a $3 billion investment in ICT, creating a minimum of 300,000 jobs in the growing BPO and KPO ecosystems.
