The Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, has stated that President Akufo-Addo will ensure the revival of the transportation company, Neoplan. He indicated that just as President Kufuor did by making Neoplan a household name, President Akufo-Addo will ensure same.
Speaking during a visit to the transportation company, he disclosed the agenda that has been pursued by President Akufo-Addo since he came into office in 2017, has been to move Ghana from being a mere producer and exporter of raw materials to a value-added industrialized economy. This, he explained, is the surest means of creating the necessary numbers of jobs for the masses.
According to the Minister for Trade and Industry,;Neoplan was responsible for the production and distribution of 450 buses for use by the Metro Mass Transit, some of which are still very much in use. Also
“The President has heard you clearly. All you want is that what Kufuor did,;President Akufo-Addo should do the same for you. If Ghana has the money to import buses,;which in turn creates jobs for foreigners,;why don’t we use the same money to import to recapitalise Neoplan? This is what the President is going to do for you. There are good times ahead of Neoplan. Neoplan shall rise again.”
