Nkrumahism In Parliament. Celebrating Kwame Nkrumah; The Vision Of Nkrumah Under CPP

Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah

Emmanuel Armah kofi Buah, the MP for Ellembele Constituency, consistently reminded the Parliament house of the essence of what Nkrumahism is, and why the nation should continually learn from the towering example of the great Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

Honorable Okudzeto Ablakwa, commended Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah for being an Nkrumahist, like himself, by reminding them of the failures of the current Ghanaian system and the blessings from the past. He said, that he commends Nkrumah for all that he did by superseding the various African giants and becoming the greatest amongst them all.

“Nkrumah is a man who could be seen by many as way ahead of his friends, way ahead of his colleague’s. I commend Volta Region and the lands that were given for the Akosombo dam project. Before this programme was launched, he had already launched 3 programs. Mr. speaker, Ghanaians had seen how visionary he was.

“Before Kwame Nkrumah was removed, we had our own sugar companies and other companies, we were producing our own tyres, our own matches. All the allegations against Nkrumah were false, now it has been settled that there were about 200 million pounds in our coffers. So, Ghana was not bankrupt as his opponents have said.”

Okudzeto Ablakwa

Ablakwa claimed that the country lacked jobs and a vison like that of Kwame Nkrumah. He continued that if Kwame Nkrumah was allowed to continue, Ghana would have been totally transformed. “He was committed to the African dream and if we are here today, Mr. speaker, then we owe a lot to the dynamism of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah”, he said.

Ablakwa, stated that the country cannot keep at what it has been doing over and over again by running to the IMF because he claimed that there was no country that was fully developed with connections to the Bretton Woods System.

“The Malaysian tigers developed without the Bretton woods System. Let us return to leadership that is without greed, without family and friends and leadership that looks towards the future. That is the only way we can move forward and get out of this economic hardships we find ourselves in. May Nkrumahism live long.”

Deputy Majority Leader Speaks

The Deputy Minority Leader and the Member of Parliament for Efuttu, Honorable Alexander Afenyo Markin spoke on the matter at hand.

He said that it was rather unfortunate that whiles Nkrumah is being celebrated, those who spoke before him, claimed that Nkrumah had no faults and everything he stood for was good. He claimed that he did not hate Nkrumah because even the people of Effutu greatly supported Nkrumah and thereby, created a monument shows their support t Nkrumah in their town.

“Nkrumah under a democratic institution, would do better. Let me proceed to deal with the Nkrumahist regime and its advantages. The vision came again for the CPP to resurrect the visions of Nkrumah and that opportunity was under Limann. Today, the many who are saying they are Nkrumahist, supported the military junta by Rawlings.

“Mr. Speaker, again, we saw many parties of the Nkrumahists coming up. Honorable Ablakwa said kofi Buah was an Nkrumahist, and claimed that he was Nkrumahists himself, so why did he not join CPP and joined NDC instead? You are coming from Ellemebele, why did you not join CPP or PNC. Is your founder an Nkrumahist; is your founder Nkrumah or Jerry John Rawlingg?”

Alexander Afenyo Markin

He claimed that his mother was a Guan and a Fante, making him neither a Guan nor a Fante, but both and as such, he could track him lineage to any of those people through his actions too. He therefore continued to say that all that he points to is that, those who claim to be Nkrumahists, should demonstrate practical Nkrumahism, in them . “not mouth-mouth, so that if Kofi Buah and Ablakwa are Nkrumahists, they must demonstrate it through their actions”, he said.

Kofi Buah then cut through and replied, that the Deputy Minority Leader is also from the Ewe land, so why isn’t he; Afenyo-Markin, a member from the NDC, because they were talking about Kwame Nkrumah and not ethnicity or where each party started from.

The Deputy Minority Leader concluded that Armah kofi Buah, should not introduce tribalism politics to the frontbench of parliament, because if they claimed to be Nkrumahists, then they should either join the PNC or the CPP, because this has nothing to do with tribes and as such, they should know better than this.
