Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, one of the candidates for the Flagbearership position in the New Patriotic Party’s contest, was unable to submit his nomination papers today.
This came about after his paperwork was discovered to be incomplete. Early on, the NPP stalwart tried to submit his forms to the party’s Presidential elections committee at its offices in Asylum Down in Accra, but was told to go fix some errors and then come back.
Following the meeting with the committee, Dr. Konadu Apraku’s campaign Director, Kwame Obiri Nkansah, revealed that the candidate’s CV and information on his individual contributions to the party were not included in the materials that were turned in.
“The process is a simple one, we left something out and the Chairman of the committee has asked us to add it. They are asking for his personal contribution to the party, and his CV. We thought that one was not necessary because everybody knew what he has done but that is the request so we want to go and add those things. Hopefully, by Friday or Saturday we will be back to file.”

In the interim, the procedure has already been completed by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen. Last week Monday, June 12, 2023, and last Friday, June 16, 2023, respectively, Mr. Kyerematen and Dr. Bawumia turned in their applications.
Ten candidates have so far picked up nomination forms to run for the NPP’s flagbearer position.
Their names are Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Kennedy Agyapong, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwabena Adjei Agyapong, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Joe Ghartey, Boakye Agyarko, Prof. Addai Nimoh, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, and Kwadwo Nsafoa Opoku. Out of this, only two have successfully submitted their forms.
Afriyie Akoto To File Flagbearer Nominations Forms Today
Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer candidate, will submit his nomination papers at the party’s Asylum Down headquarters in Accra today, June 19, 2023.
According to circulating information, some party veterans, including former National and Regional officers, former lawmakers, constituency executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, and Polling Station Executives will accompany him.
The former Agriculture Minister will address the media and the thousands of party members who support his agenda right after the nomination forms are submitted.
People who support the savvy politician, claim that right after submitting his nomination forms, Dr. Akoto will deliver a speech that is quite meaningful and will expand on his vision for the party and the nation as a whole. According to Dr. Akoto’s close associates, if this vision is adopted and carried out, it will drastically alter Ghana’s economy and shift the party’s prospects.
On May 29, 2023, a group of farmers and friends chose the nomination papers on behalf of the former Minister for Food and Agriculture as a show of support for his Presidential aspirations.
After former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the two-term Member of Parliament for Kwadaso will be the third prospective candidate to have successfully submitted his candidacy paperwork on Monday.
However, on August 26, 2023, a Special Delegates Congress will be held to choose five of the presidential candidates. On December 4, 2023, the top five candidates will then compete for the position of flagbearer, electing one to represent the party (NPP) in the general elections of 2024.
