The National Democratic Congress Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer, Amos Blessing Amorse has accused the governing New Patriotic Party of lacking a substantive message beyond relentless attacks on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama.
The opposition National Democratic Congress youth leader in a scathing rebuttal described a recent press conference addressed by Dr. Bawumia’s campaign team as an exercise devoid of meaningful content and overrun with unfounded criticisms against the National Democratic Congress flagbearer former President John Dramani Mahama.
He expressed concern over the ruling party’s singular focus on the National Democratic Congress flagbearer, suggesting that without his name, the governing New Patriotic Party would be left with no campaign message at all.
“It is increasingly becoming clear that the New Patriotic Party has no tangible campaign message for this year’s election. Everything about their campaign this year is about John Dramani Mahama, the flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress. A Party in government for eight years has nothing to campaign on except mounting unfounded attacks on John Mahama.
“This was evident in a press conference addressed by a supposed campaign team of Dr Bawumia. After watching and listening to what those political hangers-on did yesterday; if Dr Bawumia is happy with their work, then I am afraid he may not stop nodding uncontrollably soon”.

Furthermore, the Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the opposition National Democratic Congress chastised the ruling New Patriotic Party’s National Youth Orgainzer, Salam Mustapha’s criticisms against Mr Mahama’s proposal to separate the Youth from the Sports Ministry.
Mr Amorse further countered claims suggesting that Mr Mahama’s proposal to create a ministry solely responsible for youth development would increase the number of his ministries, asserting that Mr Mahama had already clarified his intention to merge certain ministries and streamline government functions to reduce the size of his government.
He strongly emphasized that such strategy by the former President and the National Democratic Congress flagbearer is aimed at enhancing efficiency rather than increasing the number of ministers.
Mr Amorse also chastised Dennis Miracle Aboagye, the Director of Communications for Dr Bawumia’s Campaign Team for what he perceived as his revival of the “debunked propaganda” alleging Mr Mahama’s intent to cancel the Free Senior High School (SHS) program if elected.
The opposition party’s youth leader emphasized that such claims are baseless, highlighting the constitutional protection afforded to the program, which he noted would require a nationwide referendum to amend.

NPP Accused of Engaging in Politics of “Name-Calling”
Moreover, the Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress, Amos Blessing Amorse criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party’s failure to showcase its own achievements during its press conference but instead resorting to repetitive attacks on Mr Mahama.
He argued that a party in government should focus on its accomplishments rather than engaging in “name-calling and mudslinging”.
Mr Amorse thus admonished the ruling New Patriotic Party administrations to channel its focus in addressing the pressing concerns of Ghanaian youth, highlighting what he described as the severe economic challenges facing Ghanaians under the current administration led by President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He warned against regurgitating outdated propaganda and emphasized the need for substantive dialogue on issues affecting the populace.
Concluding his critique, Mr Amorse emphasized that the governing New Patriotic Party’s campaign lacked substance and is failing to resonate with the Ghanaian electorate.
He hinted at the declining popularity of the ruling party’s flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s presidential aspirations following recent poll results, attributing it to the party’s ineffective communication strategy and lack of tangible achievements to showcase.
