Even though the cause of the attack still remains unknown, some people believe it is a retaliation of an earlier attack, in which a young man was attacked at Zagbang on the Yendi-Zabzugu road, leading to his death. The Northern Regional Crime Officer, Superintendent Bernard Baba Ananga, who confirmed the incident stated that aside the persons who were killed, some were left injured. He indicated that Police were as a result deployed to the community to protect lives and properties.
Supritendent Ananga at the time called on the public to volunteer information to assist the Police to apprehend the perpetrators of the crime. Reports stated that the residents who were left in a state of shock called for full protection and called on the Northern Regional Police Command, as a matter of urgency, to ensure that the perpetrators are arrested and prosecuted for killing innocent people and as a result, their request has been heeded to.
