Sammy Gyamfi Esq., National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has outlined the party’s flagbearer, former President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for a corruption-free and accountable governance.
In a strong call for change, Lawyer Gyamfi presented Mr Mahama as the candidate who embodies integrity and the political will to combat corruption effectively.
“As you may be aware, H.E. John Dramani Mahama has promised that when elected, he will confront the canker of corruption head-on, by ensuring that the sword of accountability cuts both ways. He has promised to hold members of this corrupt Akufo-Addo/Bawumia/NPP government accountable for all their corrupt acts”.

Lawyer Gyamfi began by framing the upcoming election as a critical juncture for Ghana, asserting that a vote for John Dramani Mahama is a vote for genuine accountability and justice, assuring Ghanaians that stolen funds would be retrieved and used for national development.
Mahama’s Proven Track Record
The National Democratic Congress National Communications Officer further pointed out former President John Dramani Mahama’s track record in fighting corruption during his previous tenure as President.
He cited Mr Mahama’s role in facilitating unimpeded investigations into the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) scandal, which led to the conviction of an appointee and the recovery of approximately GHS50 million for the state.
Lawyer Gyamfi also mentioned Mr Mahama’s actions in the bus branding scandal and the National Service Scheme scandal, where funds were retrieved and culprits prosecuted, underscoring Mr Mahama’s commitment to accountability
“So high was the standard of accountability under the erstwhile NDC/Mahama government, that a Deputy Minister who simply expressed a mere wish to make $1 million was sacked”.

Vision for the Future: Independent Value for Money Office
Highlighting the National Democratic Congress flagbearer’s forward-thinking approach, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi announced the promise to establish an Independent Value for Money Office.
This office, he noted would scrutinize all government procurements above a $5 million threshold or as recommended by Parliament, ensuring transparency and preventing misuse of public funds.
Additionally, Sammy Gyamfi Esq. pointed out that former President Mahama is keen on fulfiing his pledge to run the leanest and cleanest government in Ghana’s history and to ban future appointees from acquiring state assets.
A Visionary and Incorruptible Leader
Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi described former President John Dramani Mahama as a man of impeccable and unblemished integrity, positioning him as the visionary leader capable of rescuing Ghana from its current economic and governance challenges.
He painted a picture of a prosperous Ghana under Mr Mahama’s leadership—a self-reliant nation prioritizing agricultural modernization and agribusiness, a 24-hour economy offering decent jobs to the youth, and a country with a National Women’s Development Bank aimed at empowering at least one million women.
Lawyer Gyamfi also spoke about Mr Mahama’s plan to train one million young people in coding and IT modules, creating sustainable employment opportunities.
In his concluding remarks, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi made an impassioned plea to Ghanaians, stating that the time for change is now.
He urged the electorate to vote for former President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC to “RESET Ghana” and build the country that Ghanaians deserve—a nation where corruption is punished, stolen funds are retrieved, and state resources are utilized judiciously for the benefit of all citizens, not just a select few.
