NPP Postpones Flagbearer Candidate Balloting

Meanwhile, the scheduled balloting for the flagbearer candidates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which was scheduled for Wednesday, September 6, 2023, has been postponed.

The party may not have been able to conduct the balloting due to unknown reasons, but the elections committee told the media that after meeting with the candidates, there were still some concerns that needed to be rectified.

The elections committee also hinted that the November 4 elections’ modalities, candidates, and electoral commission will soon be revealed.

The elections committee’s spokesperson and member of parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, told the media that the date for the balloting will be decided when the procedures have been worked out.

On July 11, 2023, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) began accepting nominations for parliamentary primaries in “orphan constituencies,” or areas where the party has no representation in the legislature.

The decision was accepted at the NPP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and National Council meetings held on April 3, 2023, according to a statement released by the party’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong.

The election dates are Saturday, September 23, 2023, to Saturday, December 2, 2023.
