Government Spokesperson on Governance and Security, Palgrave Danquah Boakye, has intimated that government is managing the economic situation the country currently finds itself in.
Reacting to John Mahama’s comments on the economy being poorly managed under the current administration, Mr. Boakye Danquah noted that the current challenge the country is facing, is as a result of external factors and assured that government is working to deal with the challenges at hand. He stated that the Former President, John Dramani Mahama, is in no position to criticize government about the status of Ghana’s economy.
“Globally, there is a challenge which is why as a government, we are managing the situation. If you follow the conversation, you will see that steps are being taken by government to be able to ensure that we put measures in place to help mitigate the depreciation of the Cedi.”

According to Palgrave Boakye, the President has tasked the Minister of Finance and the Minister of Energy to hold consultative meetings with various agencies to ensure that they find solutions. He noted that government is seeking to cushion the common Ghanaian so that the fuel price hike will be minimized. “These are interventions that government is undertaking.”
“President Akufo-Addo also said that he is going to inject GHS2 billion into the economy. And so, as it stands, the global challenge which has barraged every economy, Ghana is managing these issues effectively.”

Bawumia working effectively at post
Palgrave Boakye replying to the public’s request of the whereabout of the Vice President as he hasn’t commented on the current economic situation, indicated that the Vice President is at post in his line of work and working effectively. “It is important that we put things in proper perspective, the Vice President is working , President is working, government workers are working and we are communicating and explaining the issues for Ghanaians to understand.”

The Former President, John Dramani Mahama recently stated that the current governing administration has poorly managed the economy which has resulted in the economic difficulties the country is currently faced with. The Former President cited inflation, rise in fuel prices and the depreciation of the cedi as key challenges Ghanaians are facing.
“The Akufo-Addo led government that came to power on the back of mouth watering promises to make life easier for Ghanaians and ensure rapid development of our country, has so badly mismanaged the economy that we have been plunged into the most debilitating economic crisis in about four decades.”
John Mahama
John Mahama indicated that the general hardship has made life unbearable for Ghanaians and stated that the youth are suffering the most from broken promises by the government. The Former President further “teased” the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, that “the dollar has rather arrested him” as against his earlier promise to arrest the dollar and stabilize the cedi as well as the economy.
