The Chief Director at the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Patrick Nomo, has described the appointment of Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta, as divinely ordained by God. He stated this when the Management of the Ministry of Finance welcomed the Minister to the premises of the Ministry. Ken Ofori-Atta received a warm welcome to officially begin his second tenure as the Finance Minister.
Welcoming the Minister, the Chief Director noted that, the Ministry was grateful to God for his divine mercies on the life of the Minister. He indicated that this is especially so, during his post-COVID-19 complications and review in the USA.
“I believe your appointment is divinely ordained by God”.
Also, he stated that it was heart-warming to know that, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta will be in charge of the economic management of the country once again. Mr. Patrick Nomo assured the Minister of the Ministry’s support in his second term as it had always been.
Meanwhile, Ken Ofori-Atta stated that the team’s spirit from 2017 to now had been truly amazing. The minister was visibly elated and could not hide his joy at the wonderful reception accorded him upon his return.
He commended the strong leadership of the Management of the Ministry for their hard work and dedication during his absence. The Chief Director and the President’s representative, Hon. Charles Adu Boahen held the fort in his absence.

Minister calls for a change in attitude
Moreover, Ken Ofori-Atta stated that Ghanaians have high expectations for a quick economic turnaround. As such he called for the need for a change in attitude and operations in the ministry. This, according to him, will help drive more efficiency from staff to revitalize and grow the economy.
Furthermore, Ken Ofori-Atta used the opportunity to thank God for the healing mercies. He also expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic for the confidence reposed in him, and Parliament for the approval.
“The confidence in me is really reflective of the confidence in the Ministry. I think we should share that and move on strongly”.
Likewise, Ms. Eva Mends, a Coordinating Director at the Ministry expressed her gratitude to God for Ministers’ appointment.
“Welcome back. We miss your philosophical inputs and your deep sense of commitment to give off our very best for God and country”.
Meanwhile, the re-appointment of Ken Ofori-Atta is historic as no other finance minister has done so in the 4th Republic.
The Appointments Committee of Parliament unanimously approved Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta on Monday. Subsequently, H. E. President Nana Akufo-Addo swore him into office on Tuesday, 30th March 2021.
Following his appointment, Ken Ofori-Atta assured Ghanaians of his commitment to modernize and transform the economy. He highlighted his commitment to creating the atmosphere for building strong Ghanaian enterprises and businesses.
He promised to work very hard to protect the public purse in his second term as minister for finance. However, he called on all Ghanaians to work together to rebuild the economy that is currently battling the scars of the COVID-19.
