Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been charged with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police.
The alleged offences, which reportedly took place between 2021 and 2022, involve three different women and follow a detailed investigation that has been ongoing since early 2022.
The 32-year-old Ghanaian international, who officially parted ways with Arsenal on Monday after the expiration of his contract, now faces a legal battle to clear his name.
Partey has denied all allegations and, through his legal representation, expressed readiness to face the judicial process.
Charges and Timeline
The charges stem from complaints received by police in February 2022, prompting detectives to launch an in-depth investigation.
According to the police, two counts of rape relate to one woman, three counts of rape to a second, and a single count of sexual assault is linked to a third woman.

Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy, who is leading the investigation, emphasized the seriousness of the case and the commitment of law enforcement to support the victims.
“Our priority remains providing support to the women who have come forward. We would ask anyone who has been impacted by this case, or anyone who has information, to speak with our team.”

Partey’s Response
In a statement released by his lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, Partey denied all allegations and expressed confidence in the legal system.
“Thomas Partey denies all the charges against him. He has fully cooperated with the police and CPS throughout their three-year investigation”.

He now welcomes the opportunity to finally clear his name. Given that there are now ongoing legal proceedings, my client is unable to comment further.” Wiltshire said.

This development comes at a pivotal moment in Partey’s career, following the conclusion of his four-year spell at Arsenal.
