Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia has stated that the ongoing war in Ukraine is now a global issue.
Speaking in an interview, Medvedev noted, “Europe is losing and the entire world is in tension.”
“If we look at the situation from this perspective, we will see that it, to a certain extent, turns this conflict into an issue of global scale, a conflict of the worlds and an existential conflict for the entire planet as well, which is what many political scientists and politicians have been talking about.”

Medvedev claimed that Russia’s opponents in the West are ignoring signals from Moscow and pushing everyone towards a third world war.
“Frankly speaking, it would have definitely been better if they had heard them [the signals]. In any case, the world would not have to face the threat of World War III,” the Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council said.
“In fact, this is where our opponents are actively pushing everyone,” he pointed out.
Moreover, Medvedev stated in the interview that the U.S is currently in a “state of disarray and conflict with itself.”
“In my view, this discord is irreconcilable in a way, and such domestic conflicts often lead to civil wars,” Medvedev noted.
Furthermore, Medvedev noted that Russia-US relations were more pragmatic under Former President Barack Obama.
He made this comment when asked if current U.S President Joe Biden’s policy was similar to that of Obama.
However, the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia disclosed that tensions over the situation around Ukraine had emerged between Russia and the U.S in the course of Obama’s presidency.
“Then there was Crimea’s return to Russia and sanctions were introduced,” he said.
“Still, the fact is that as for pragmatism, Barack Obama was more pragmatic than Biden is.”

“It’s clear that the [US] Republican Party is also anti-Russian but there are more pragmatists,” he added.
