A junior doctor has filed a lawsuit against the body in charge of safeguarding professional standards in UK medicine, because it refused to look into claims that a cardiologist was disseminating “harmful misinformation” about Covid-19 vaccinations.
Dr. Matt Kneale filed a complaint against the General Medical Council when the GMC declined to look into Dr. Aseem Malhotra’s claims that, Covid-19 vaccinations caused frequent serious cardiac issues, and even fatalities, despite the existence of overwhelming scientific evidence to the contrary.
In a paperwork submitted to the high court, Kneale claimed that, the cardiologist spread “unscientific and dangerous misinformation” about Covid-19 vaccinations on social media and in other places, as the pandemic developed.
However, Malhotra claimed a social media post, on October 2022 that, Pfizer and Moderna’s mRNA vaccines were “likely contributory factors” in all abrupt cardiac arrests, heart attacks, strokes, cardiac arrhythmias, and heart failures that have occurred since 2021.
He continued that, the Covid vaccine may have killed one in thousand Americans, and called the vaccination campaign “the greatest miscarriage of medical science we will witness in our lifetime.” Malhotra also suspected that, a Covid vaccine booster resulted to his father’s demise in July 2021.
On the other hand, Kneale complained to the GMC about Malhotra’s remarks, but the council decided not to look into it, because it didn’t deem the remarks to be offensive enough to merit action.
According to research conducted by the UK Health Security Agency, the Covid-19 immunization campaign, which included Pfizer and Moderna shots, as well as the adenovirus-based vaccine from Oxford/AstraZeneca, rescued over 100,000 lives in England alone by September 2021.
“We want the GMC to open an investigation. Not just to fully and dispassionately investigate this one doctor, but also to engage generally with the issue of doctors who may potentially cause harm to the public by their social media postings,” Kneale said.
Kneale noted that, the choice not to conduct an investigation risked producing a “wild west” in which any doctor may say nearly anything without repercussions.
The British Medical Association passed a vote of no confidence against GMC on Tuesday at its annual conference in Liverpool. The vote sparked worries about unfair penalties meted out to some doctors for insignificant errors, and a lack of action taken against medical professionals who disseminate harmful rumors.
Early in the epidemic, Malhotra criticized disinformation on social media that discouraged people from getting the shots. However, Malhotra stated that, he had altered his mind about their well-being after reviewing new data.
“The Covid mRNA vaccines have not uncommon and serious adverse consequences including death and should likely never have been approved in the first place.”

Vaccine Related Health Risk
According to a significant study on Covid vaccinations, mRNA vaccines slightly increased the risk of myocarditis, or inflammation of the heart, resulting in an additional one to six instances for every million individuals who received a first dose and an additional one to ten instances for every million people who got a second shot.
According to estimates, for every million infected people with covid-19, there are an additional 40 instances of myocarditis. According to the British Heart Foundation, the overwhelming majority of myocarditis is mild.
A GMC spokeswoman stated, that the council was mindful of the issues raised by Malhotra’s remarks, but declined to comment on specific instances.
“We take action where there is evidence of a risk to patients or public confidence, or a serious breach of proper professional standards or conduct. We do not take this responsibility lightly and realize that our decisions can sometimes be disappointing for complainants.”
