GCB to Receive Claims After Fire from SIC

The Liberty House Branch of GCB Bank situated in Katamanto, a suburb of Accra, has received assurance from its insurers, SIC that processes to assess damage and pay claims with regards to the fire incident that occurred at the Bank’s premises recently are underway.

Head of Corporate and Special Risk at SIC Insurance Company Limited, Mr. Emmauel Simpiney-Mensah speaking in an interview, has intimated that “SIC is the biggest insurance company in this country, and we have been giving protection to Ghana Commercial Bank for long. We have started responding. We don’t wait for 24 hours. We were here yesterday, and we are here today too. So, this is part of the response process”.

Mr. Emmauel Simpiney-Mensah also revealed that his outfit will begin consultations with the management of GCB Bank to ascertain the level of damage.

“We are meeting management very soon, and then we will move on. You see, what is happening is that, they can only tell us what has [gotten] damaged. So, we cannot estimate until they have brought us their estimation but be rest assured that, when it comes, SIC will be there to clear it off for them to continue with where they were before the loss”.

Giving some insights into fire outbreak that happened over the weekend, the first floor of the bank’s facility caught fire, however, with the quick response and timely intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service, the fire was localized preventing it from spreading to other floors. The fire service also disclosed that the affected floor where the fire incident occurred contained stationery.

A statement signed by the Head of Corporate Affairs on behalf of the Managing Director of the Bank said the closure is to allow for a thorough assessment of the extent of damage caused by the fire.

Also, GCB bank has advised the general public and customers of the Liberty House Branch to visit any GCB Bank Branch of their choice to carry out transactions or make use of alternative digital platforms including internet banking, GCB Mobile banking, Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and G-Money Mobile Wallet.
