Zapp Mallet a Ghanaian music producer claims rapper Sarkordie owes him.

Ghanaian music producer, Zapp Mallet born Emmanuel Mallet, has revealed that Sarkodie still owes him for producing his hit single ‘Party and Bullshit’.

Speaking on the issue of royalties in a recent interview on the ‘Hammer Time’ show on Pure FM, Zapp stated that the award-winning rapper hasn’t paid him for producing the song yet.

He further added that the iconic rapper was not the only artiste owing him as many artists he could not make out were still owing him.

He went on to emphasize that he was not going to let go of the issue and will ensure that he is paid for his hard work.

“Do you know I produced and programmed “Party and Bullshit”, but to date, I’ve not been paid? But I will insist they pay. As we speak some of the artists I can’t remember their names owe me. I wish I could remember.

He explained further in the interview how Sarkodie with the help of the Chairman of the Ghana Creative Arts Council, Mark Okraku Mantey, got in touch with him to produce the song as the rapper could not get anyone to execute the job the way he had wanted it.

“I was there when Mark Okraku called to tell me there was an artist who needed something but he has been going around without getting it but knew I was the one who could do that. He told me the young man wanted a kind of old school flavor something. So I asked him to come so we can do it which he, Mark Okraku, came.

“He showed me the song they wanted me to sample and in about 30 minutes I was done with it. But they didn’t pay until one day when the artiste’s manager came and presented a contract on the sheet for me to sign. At the time, Mark was gone, he wasn’t there.

“I worked on the song as a producer and co-wrote that song so there is something that is I’m supposed to get but up to date,” he told host Hammer.

‘Party & Bullshit’ was released in the year 2019 as part of Sarkodie’s “Black Love” album. It features British actor and musician, Idris Elba and Donae’o.

That aside, when asked if artists are influential to cause a change in the country, Zapp lambasted the celebrities in Ghana noting that Ghanaian celebrities are most known for posting pictures and showing off instead of helping push social issues and finding ways to resolve them.

“Our celebrities are just for glamour. Just the glitz and the glamour nothing more… so far have you heard of any celebrity that has said anything apart from going to social media to post about their dresses and the fights that’s all. Do you hear any celebrity talking about child education or child immunization? No, it’s all about some fake breasts and buttocks on their page”.

He concluded by advising Ghanaian artists to hold on tight to the Highlife music genre instead of throwing it away because it is the Ghanaian heritage.
