Ghanaian gospel music star, Ohemaa Mercy.

Ghanaian gospel music artist, Mercy Tsum-Ampofo, widely known as Ohemaa Mercy, has revealed that she once used Stonebwoy’s single hit song ‘Tuff Seed’, as a theme for a sermon.

Ohemaa Mercy made this shocking disclosure during an interview session with an Accra-based radio station where she further noted that she doesn’t only listen to one genre of music. She also asserted that the song, ‘Tuff Seed’, was one of her favorite songs, and  further revealed that when she listened to the song, it spoke to her on a spiritual level, and that was how come she was able to use it to preach, and it touched the lives of many.

“Amazingly I was preaching with Stonebwoy’s ‘Tuff Seed’, and I am telling you it was so powerful. People had to call me and they cried, and then they shared the kind of things that Ministration took them out of. ‘Tuff Seed’ is one of the best songs I love on Stonebwoy’s album. It is a very deep song and when you take it to the spiritual side, you will realize he [Stonebwoy] was saying something mysterious. I was preaching with ‘Tuff Seed’ and it was something else…I listen to a lot of songs and there are some songs I listen to and it speaks to me a lot”.

When asked if she wasn’t scared of being backlashed by Christian critics for listening to secular music, she emphasized that it rather made them anxious to listen to the Ministration she had to share and she went on to cite examples of other secular artists she listens to from time to time.

“I had a lot of revelations after listening to the song, and when I started preaching about it. I had a lot of these people [Christian critics], who were tensed and curious to listen to what I had to say. When I got deep into the Word, they were shocked and I was telling them what our brother [Stonebwoy] was ministering to us… I listen to Shatta Wale too, he has several motivational songs and I like them”.

Tailing the issue of gospel artists who feature secular musicians, Ohemaa Mercy stated that if given the divine direction from God, she will not refuse to collaborate with any secular artist. She later disclosed that she mostly speaks with Kwabena Kwabena and it made her realize how spiritual he is, and therefore, advised people not to judge a book by its cover.

“If God tells me to feature a secular artist, I will do it. I walk with the Holy Spirit and I am very sensitive to the matters of the Holy Spirit. Let me tell you, my brother, Kwabena Kwabena when I sit down and I am talking with him, the way he goes deep into the Word of God. It’s amazing, so, don’t look at people and judge them because maybe what he is doing is pleasing to God. You are human; how would you know whether what someone is doing is acceptable to God or not? So, don’t judge someone for what they do”.

Ohemaa Mercy also reiterated that Kwabena Kwabena will become a Prophet. It can be recalled that the Ohemaa Mercy, in an interview with Mzgee on TV3, stated that Kwabena Kwabena has a divine calling to win souls for his Maker. She revealed today that she has already spoken to him about it and Kwabena Kwabena responded that, he will do the work of God if he receives the calling.
