Chelsea beat Manchester City 1-0 to advance into FA Cup final

Ziyech celebrates goal with teammates

Chelsea beat Manchester City 1-0 at Wembley in the FA Cup semifinals to advance to the final.

After a goalless first half, Ziyech converted from Timo Werner’s squared pass after a quick transition by Chelsea 10 minutes into the second half.

Gabriel Jesus then fired wastefully over from close range with City’s best chance, while Rodri was denied by Kepa Arrizabalaga in stoppage time.

Chelsea defended resolutely, clinching their 14th clean sheet in 19 games under Thomas Tuchel. The Blues will now be favourites to go on and lift the trophy when they face Leicester in next month’s final.

Leicester 1-0 Southampton

Leicester City’s “Seniorman”, Kelechi Iheanacho, fired the club into their first FA Cup final since 1969 with a 1-0 win over Southampton at Wembley.

The first half was low on goalmouth action, but Leicester created two chances, spurned on both occasions by Jamie Vardy.

Iheanacho then swept home in Leicester 10 minutes into the second half, to give his side the lead. James Maddison missed two good chances to extend Leicester’s lead following his introduction off the bench but one goal was enough for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

EPL Review: Everton 2-2 Tottenham

Harry Kane scored twice as Tottenham and Everton played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Goodison Park

After an uneventful opening 27 minutes, Michael Keane’s costly defensive header set up Kane to fire Spurs into the lead.

However, Everton equalized four minutes later through Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty after Sergio Reguilon had fouled James Rodriguez in the area.

Everton were superior in every department from there on and took a deserved lead in the second half through Sigurdsson’s clinical finish from Seamus Coleman’s cutback.

The Toffees then gifted Kane his second six minutes later when a defensive mix-up presented the ball to the England international, who rifled an unstoppable volley into the top corner.

The draw leaves Everton in eighth, while Spurs remain a point and place ahead in seventh.

Man Utd 3-1 Burnley

Manchester United beat Burnley 3-1 at Old Trafford to move within eight points of leaders, Manchester City.

The first half was frantic but goalless, and United took the lead just after halftime through Mason Greenwood. The teenager smashed home at the far post from Marcus Rashford’s cross and a clever Bruno Fernandes dummy.

Burnley were level just 114 seconds later as James Tarkowski headed home from an Ashley Westwood corner. Greenwood restored Manchester United’s lead, as his shot deflected off Jack Cork into the bottom corner.

United substitute, Edinson Cavani then converted Donny van de Beek’s cross to make it 3-1 in stoppage time.

Arsenal 1-1 Fulham

Eddie Nketiah scored a dramatic late equalizer as Arsenal rescued a 1-1 draw against Fulham at the Emirates stadium.

Arsenal thought they had taken the lead after Dani Ceballos converted Hector Bellerin’s cross just before half-time. However, VAR came to Fulham’s rescue and the goal was ruled out as offside.

Josh Maja then gave Fulham the lead from the penalty spot in the second half after Gabriel Magalhaes brought down Mario Lemina inside the penalty area.

Scott Parker’s men looked on course for what would be a crucial three points with a superb defensive performance. However, Fulham buckled in the final stages of seven minutes of injury-time with Nketiah poking home from close range to rescue a 1-1 draw.

Newcastle 3-2 West Ham

Newcastle boosted their hopes of staying in the Premier League with a dramatic 3-2 victory over West Ham at St James’ Park.

Issa Diop’s hapless own goal gave Newcastle the lead in the first half. It got worse for the visitors as Craig Dawson, was sent off for a second bookable offence.

Lukasz Fabianski then spilled Matt Ritchie’s routine corner to hand Joelinton a tap-in from close range to double Newcastle’s lead.

However, after halftime, West Ham roared back as Diop’s header and Jesse Lingard’s penalty, restored parity between the two sides.

In a thrilling finale, Newcastle claimed all three points through substitute, Joe Willock’s header. The victory sees Newcastle move nine points clear of the relegation places with just six games remaining,

Wolves 1-0 Sheffield United

Sheffield United’s inevitable relegation from the Premier League was confirmed as Wolves beat them 1-0 at Molineux.

Willian Jose’s scored the only goal of the game, his first in the Premier League, from an Adama Traore cross.

The result condemned the Blades to a sixth successive league defeat which leaves them rooted to the foot of the table, 19 points from safety with just 18 points left to play for.
