VGMA set to have Xperience concert

VGMA The organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards have announced that it is set to have the 'VGMA 22 Xperience Concert' and is expected to be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021.

The organizers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards have announced that it is set to have the ‘VGMA 22 Xperience Concert’ and is expected to be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021.

Speaking with The Vaultz Media (TVM), a Public Relations Officer for the event disclosed that the annual event won’t be the same as subsequent years. She noted that due to the pandemic, this year’s concert will be virtual. However, there will be some invited guests who will attend the show to witness the live performance.

“It’ll be hybrid. Meaning it’s both an invite-only and virtual event”.

 Also, she emphasized that “the show promises to be very exciting and audiences should only be expecting the best of live performances as we have enlisted some of Ghana’s finest musicians to thrill fans all over the world”.

That notwithstanding, the show will see performances from some A-list artists in Ghana including Camidoh, Celestine Donkor, Episode, Kuami Eugene, KelvynBoy, Adina, Kwesi Arthur, Amerado, and others.

More so, the VGMA Xperience Concert aims to give fans and nominees the;opportunity to engage ahead of the main awards night scheduled for June 25th and 26th.

According to the organizers, Charterhouse Ghana, “It’s the month of music, and music’s biggest weekend beckons. The strings will create rhythms that command corresponding body poetry. Melodies of delight will sing on thousands of tongues”.

Meanwhile, fans who have been eagerly anticipating the concert have reacted to this announcement. While some were glad about it, others questioned why their favorite artists weren’t billed to perform for that night. Some reactions read:

Activity line up for music month

It is worth noting that the event is part of some other exciting activities;that will be earmarked on to heighten the VGMA Xperience in the music month of June. Some activities include the ‘VGMA in Schools Initiative’, ‘VGMA Music summit’, and the VGMA awards night.

From 7 through to 18 June, the VGMA will have the ‘VGMA in Schools Initiative’. This initiative will work with schools, offering students interested in music an opportunity to dialogue with professionals. The aim of this project is to help students in music to start right, point out the role of education in a music career, and expose students to the basics of show business. Also,

The next activity will be the ‘VGMA Music Summit’. This program which will take place on the 21st of June will have over 130 countries and thousands of cities celebrate the World Music Day. According to a statement from VGMA, the day will be marked with a “national dialogue, master class, and the honoring of unsung heroes of the music ecosystem”. It is worth mentioning that this is the first time Ghana will be included in this program.

That notwithstanding, the last activity to climax the VGMA Xperience will be the awards show. Slated for the 25th and 26th June, the night will be met with glitz and glamour from the big shots in the industry as they are welcomed onto the red carpet.  Then the awards ceremony will follow suit alongside some “electric live performances from the best acts Ghana has to offer”.
