Togolese Ambassador seeks economic cooperation with Volta Region

The Togolese Ambassador to Ghana, Colonel Awoki Panassa, on the first leg of the two-day visit to the Volta Region, called on the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, to help establish a working relationship between Ghana and Togo.

The collaboration between the Ambassador and the Volta Region is geared towards finding common grounds between the two countries to explore industrial opportunities and, also to foster a good working relationship.

The Ambassador, who was appointed in January last year, said he had committed all efforts to work to foster industrial cooperation and development between the two nations. Meanwhile, the Ambassador disclosed this two-day visit happens to be his first time in the Volta Region.

Furthermore, Colonel Awoki Panassa used the opportunity to thank the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) for leading the Volta Regional tour and helping him and his outfit achieve their industrial objectives.

Also, the Ambassador cited tourism in the region as a destination of choice and called for collaboration between the two countries to work together on tourism development. He also indicated that numerous industries in the country that could be considered in Togo.

The Volta, Eastern and Oti Regions Chairman for the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), Mr. Dela Gadzanku, disclosed that the industries they have been able to tour include: the West Africa’s largest fish farms located at Sogakope in the South Tongu District, and the plantation of Ghana’s largest exporter of potatoes, established at Dzodze in the Ketu North Municipality.

He further disclosed that they would be visiting the cassava processing giant Caltech and the acrylic paint manufacturer Agartex among others. He also stated that the Ambassador would get to meet private sector stakeholders, the media, and a young entrepreneur’s hub in the Ho Municipality.

Furthermore, Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Yao Letsa, revealed that the Volta Region and Togo were blood-related with numerous areas of collaborative potential yet to be harnessed.

Also, Dr. Letsa used the occasion to call on all Togolese industries to participate in the exhibition at the Fifth Volta Trade and Investment Fair coming up in the regional capital, Ho in November this year and disclosed it would expand both economies, a win-win for all.

The Volta Region has been discovered as a hotspot for industrial investment. The region continues to receive adequate support and development initiatives from stakeholders.

Notable among these supports are the flagship aquaculture project that has been initiated and implemented through the collaboration between the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), and the recent initiative for collaboration between the AGI and the Ho Node Hub, which is designed to benefit the youth of the region.
