Drake's new album, 'Certified Lover Boy'(CLB) has finally been released and his fans aren't keeping calm about it.

Canadian musical artist and megastar, Drake

Canadian superstar, Drake has finally released his new album, ‘Certified Lover Boy'(CLB) and his fans aren’t keeping calm about it.

Following CLB’s release, Drake has since become the trending topic on social media as his fans share their thoughts on the released album.

Well, one of the hottest talking points was the namecheck for #Ayesha on the track ‘Race My Mind’, with thousands pondering whether Drake had shouted-out Steph Curry’s wife. However, the superstar NBA guard didn’t seem upset about it; he even gave Drake a personal congrats on the album release.

Some were so pleased to have downloaded the song to listen to, as they claimed that it is the greatest album they have ever listened to.

Meanwhile, some used the opportunity to troll Kanye West. According to them, Kanye’s ‘Donda’ doesn’t match up to Drake’s album.

Nonetheless, some Ghanaians who seem to be fans of Drake opined that at least one Ghanaian artist should have been featured on the album. Some reactions to CLB read:

Aubrey Drake Graham, widely known as Drake, has become the first-ever artist to hit 50 billion streams on Spotify.

Reactions from fans

@officialDuperb: I knew @Drake will never disappoint us what a lovely Friday. The whole album is lit #CertifiedLoverBoy

@Monalisa: 70% of this Drake album is just nice background music. Not bad but nothing crazy either. Folding underwear music. A few gems in there too though. #CertifiedLoverBoy

@Lee: It’s only been a few hours but I think we can all agree drake has the best album of the year. #CertifiedLoverBoy

@Steven_Drake: Sarkodie’s and Drake’s Albums are the two Biggest Albums Released this year!! Drake Gradually Proving to Be the Greatest Rapper of The Last 10 years. Can’t wait to see a Ghanaian Act on His Next Project! Flag of Ghana #CertifiedLoverBoy

@ghYesu:  Drake has dropped his #CertifiedLoverBoy Album. And the happiest thing about it is there’s Tems on the album. Big win for Nigeria. Ghanaian artists should keep on beefing for nothing.

Drake’s strides in the music industry

Certified Lover Boy is Drake’s sixth studio effort and the follow-up to 2018’s ‘Scorpion’, which peaked to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and on charts around the globe. Later, he was named by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), as the world’s best-selling recording artist of 2018.

It can be recalled that Drake announced the album in August 2020 with the Lil Durk collaboration ‘Laugh Now Cry Later’, saying it would be out in January 2021.

Last week, he teased the release date with a cryptic ESPN promo, which came out amid a reignited feud with Kanye West that dates back to 2008. The revival was triggered when Drake, guesting on Trippie Redd’s ‘Betrayal’ rapped, “Ye ain’t changing shit for me, it’s set in stone”.

Kanye responded with Instagram Stories of antagonistic text messages and a swiftly deleted reveal of Drake’s home address.

Events leading to the release of CLB

Meanwhile, in the days leading up to the album’s arrival, Drake revealed features and some lyrics on billboards in New York, Toronto, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

Though ‘Certified Lover Boy’ is the follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion, Drake has released some new songs in between, including last year’s ‘Dark Lane Demo Tapes’. The project was Drake’s first in a decade not to make a No. 1 Billboard debut.

Drake also issued the ‘three-song Scary Hours 2’ EP in March, and also joined Smiley and Brent Faiyaz on songs this year, as well as Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj on ‘Seeing Green’. He also dropped tracks with Lil Yachty, DJ Khaled, Future, Lil Wayne, and Popcaan.

Outside of the studio, he launched his own cannabis brand and was honored at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards as the Artist of the Decade.
