The organizers of the annual MTN Liberia Music Awards (MLMAs) have announced the nominees ahead of the awards ceremony in Monrovia schedule 20th November 2021.
The announcement followed a call for nominations in June this year. Launched in 2008, the awards platform honors and amplifies the efforts of outstanding practitioners in Liberian and African music and culture.
It is worth noting that, singer, Kpanto leads this year’s nominees with 10 nominations, including the coveted ‘Artist of the Year Award’. He is followed by Natif with seven nods and MC Caro with six nominations. Like Kpanto, Natif and MC Caro will be hoping to dethrone reigning MLMAs ‘Artist of the Year’, Eric Geso. That notwithstanding, Nuchie Meek was also nominated for the ‘Artist of the Year’ category.
The Song of the Year category includes ‘Kekeleh’ by Eric Geso featuring Natif, ‘Story’ by Natif, ‘Go Down’ by Bucky Raw, ‘Dey Say’ by Kpanto featuring PCK, and ‘Joana’ by Jaredo.
In the International Artist of the Year category, Ghana’s KiDi earned a nomination alongside Nigeria’s Omah Lay, Rema, Teni, and Fireboy DML.

According to the organizers of the event, “Our Objectives are to help build Liberia’s music industry by awarding our artists on the biggest platform that comes with lots of benefits and therefore empowerment; providing opportunities for artists, disc jockeys and promoters from across Liberia and the diaspora; to meet, demonstrate and to share their musical achievements and creativity”.
