Cute Abiola has been declared missing by friends and family. A statement shared on Tuesday evening by comedian Mr. Macaroni

Cute Abiola, Nigerian Comedian

Nigerian comedian and popular social media skit maker, Ahmed Gafar, who is popularly known as Cute Abiola has been declared missing by friends and family.

A statement shared on Tuesday evening by comedian Mr. Macaroni noted that Cute Abiola, a Nigerian naval officer left his residence at about 6:00 a.m. on Monday for office at Navy Town, but nothing was heard from him after that day.

Sharing a screenshot of the statement, Mr. Macaroni appealed to the Nigerian Navy to confirm the skit maker’s whereabouts.

“If the Nigerian Navy has any information to help Cute Abiola’s family and friends confirm his whereabouts or if he is in their custody, I think the honorable thing to do would be to clarify details surrounding his detention and put everyone’s mind at rest”.

Mr. Macroni

Cute Abiola was said to have called his wife on the telephone at his office, but several attempts to reach him later proved abortive.

“His wife and other associates have made several attempts to contact him but to no avail. Since he last communicated with his wife and associates that he already got to the office, he has not returned to his family and no one has heard from him till this moment”.

While his whereabouts remain unclear, reports said he had been locked up in a cell without the naval authorities making his detention public.

“It was subsequently gathered from a reliable source that he has been locked up in the Nigerian Navy cell since he got to the office yesterday morning till the time of posting this information without being fed, and no date has been stated for his release from custody.

“This unfortunate situation has rendered his wife emotionally tortured and traumatized as The Cute Abiola is an Ulcer patient. Hence, not feeding an Ulcer patient as punishment for an undisclosed offense is something to be worried about with a view to avoiding unnecessary circumstances with regards to the health of The Cute Abiola”.

However, the spokesperson for the Nigerian Navy, Suleman Dahun, told local media that he was unaware of the matter.

Currently, it is not known if Cute Abiola is in detention or not. However, if he is in detention, then this won’t be the first time. It can be recalled that last year, Cute Abiola was arrested after sharing his birthday photos in a navy uniform and it went viral.

Abiola was reportedly held at a cell in a Naval facility in the Apapa area of Lagos since members of the army or navy are not to use their uniforms for anything unofficial, especially leisure.

Some local media reported that a source familiar with the matter confirmed the development that the Nigerian Navy arrested and detained the comedian. The source, who reportedly spoke on the condition of anonymity said the comedian’s offense was being in full Navy camouflage in the viral birthday pictures.

The Army arrested Cute Abiola because his actions were not in accordance with the code of conduct for a Naval officer. He was to be punished with lengthy detention or dismissal from the Navy service, the source revealed. However, a few days later, the matter was resolved and Cute Abiola was freed.
