The Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen, has called for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in making the party’s aim of winning the next election in 2024, a reality.

In a statement by the minister following the chaos at the party offices in the Juaben in the Eastern Region and Manhyia in the Ashanti Region over the weekend, he indicated that all patriots who aspire to serve the party and have put themselves up as volunteers for various positions are already winners and thus deserve recognition.

“I have always maintained the belief that there is cooperation after competition. Let us all work in that same spirit and see ourselves as winners with equal stakes and roles towards victory in election 2024.”

Alan Kyeremanten

Alan Kyeremanten averred that he hopes the hard-working and selfless executives who would give off their best for the success of the party are elected.

Alan Kyeremanten’s comments come after some party members hoping to contest the polling station election got stranded at the party’s offices over the weekend after they were denied access to the forms.

Alan Kyeremanten offered his best wishes and support to all contestants as they all commit to uphold the values of the New Patriotic Party and uphold the elephant as its winning symbol. He then urged all party members to remember to observe the COVID-19 Health and Safety protocols during this period.

“May we come out stronger, more united, and motivated to break the 8. With UNITY and common purpose, we shall win together and build a prosperous Ghana, creating equal opportunity for all!”

“I cannot state categorically or emphatically the reason for the agitation, that’s why I said that investigations will go on for us to fish out some of the information that came out of it.”

According to Mr. Geraldo, it took the intervention of armed Police Officers to maintain order at the party’s offices. He expressed concern over the conduct of some party members which led to the disruption of the process.

“What I said to them was that the Regional Chairman had paid for 1,000 of the forms and as it stands we have about 2,000 and over forms. So, everyone will surely get his or her own. So, it was not only limited to what the regional chairman had paid for but everyone to receive his or her fair share.”

Yaw Geraldo

This comes after confusion broke out after party members accused executives of giving preferential treatment to their colleagues in the distribution of the forms for the polling station elections.
