Security Expert, Adam Bonaa has called for the interdiction of the Police Officers who handled the case involving the 27 year-old Albert Donkor, who was allegedly shot after being arrested.
According to Adam Bonaa, the Officers after the arrest of the alleged robbery suspect did not follow the protocols used in investigating alleged criminals. He questioned why the officers did not record Albert Donkor giving out a confession of his involvement on both audio and video.
“If they had done that as this whole story goes, the first thing they would have done would have been to share excerpts of this or tell us that there is a video recording and an audio recording of the deceased person confession to this.”

The Security expert stated that even if the officers wouldn’t show it to the general public, some security experts and authorities would have seen it because they work closely with them.
“They didn’t follow that protocol so, I would again go further to say that the Police administration should interdict the officers who were involved immediately whiles investigations are conducted because at least we all know that some Police Officers are criminals.”

Adam Bonaa asked for an independent committee to be established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Albert Donkor at Nkoranza in the Bono East Region. He suggested this as a result of the family indicating that it does not believe the narrative from the Police that Albert Donkor was killed in a shoot out with armed robbers after he was taken to the hide out to assist the security agency in a robbery investigation.
“What I’ve gathered indicated that there was a robbery and it looks like somehow, officers thought this guy was part and picked him up and eventually according to them, they bundled him to the crime scene and his allegedly colleague suspects who were hiding and lurking around the place, shot and exchanged fire with the Police and he died through that.”

Lots of discrepancies in story circulating
Adam Bonaa stated that when the entire story is listened to, it will be noted that there are a lot of discrepancies and a lot of gaps which do not add up. “So as far as I am concerned, this is an incident that shouldn’t have happened but has already happened.”
“The Police should institute their own enquiry. By now, I know they might have started doing that and then an independent committee should also be instituted probably by the Interior Minister just like it was done at Asawase.”

A statement issued by the Police on Tuesday May 17, 2022 stated that following the death of suspect, Albert Donkor, the Bono East Police Regional Police Command held engagements with the family of the deceased and other relevant stakeholders in response to their concerns regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) of the Ghana Police Service has indicated that it is investigating the death of the alleged robbery suspect at Nkoranza.
“Also, the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) has commenced an investigation into the incident to ascertain whether the operation was carried out in line with the Standard Operating Procedure of the service. a team from the PPSB has visited the area in this regard.”
