Yvonne Nelson has registered her displeasure in the current state of Ghana's health sector and she is calling on President Akufo-Addo to see it as a clarion call.

Ghanaian Actress and producer, Yvonne Nelson

Ghanaian actor and movie producer, Yvonne Nelson, has disclosed that Jackie Appiah turned down her offer to shoot a movie she was producing.

According to Yvonne Nelson, when she was about to shoot her movie, ‘Fix Us’, she wanted Yvonne Okoro and Jackie Appiah to be the main characters. However, when she reached out to Jackie, she turned her offer down. Yvonne was quick to add that she was however fine with Jackie’s decision, as other factors could have resulted in Jackie’s decision.

“The job is about priorities. Sometimes I may have a job, and it’s paying really well, but I have something more important. I guess this is what was the case for her, but I don’t even remember. I think it was on WhatsApp text messaging I used in getting in touch, but if you ask me, she turned me down. I gave her enough time but you can’t just sit around as a producer. I called her on the phone, and I told her, and she said she would be on set around the same time, but I don’t know what happened. I guess she had other plans”.

Yvonne Nelson made this revelation after she was asked why the renowned actress, Jackie Appiah, wasn’t in any of the movies she has produced.

Yvonne Nelson is currently on a media tour promoting her soon-to-show movie titled ‘Fifty-Fifty’. The movie which premieres at the Silverbird on Saturday, May 21, 2022, has caught the attention of many online.

Yvonne Nelson Laments Unseriousness of Ghana Movie Editors’

Yvonne Nelson revealing some insights about the movie disclosed that the movie editor who worked on her latest movie, ‘Fifty-Fifty’ was a Nigerian. Explaining why she settled on a Nigerian movie editor, she said: “Ghana movie editors messed me up. They are not serious. They always come up with excuses. They will frustrate you. I am done with them. I flew in a Nigerian movie editor to work on Fifty-Fifty”.

Ever since Yvonne Nelson broke into the limelight, she has grown to become a household name in the industry, and currently, she is considered one of the biggest actresses in Ghana. She has been featured in several movies since she started her career. However, one thing Yvonne Nelson is noted for is how outspoken she is when it comes to addressing national issues.

It can be recalled that the actress staged a demonstration during John Mahama’s regime when blackout, locally known as ‘dumsor’, was rampant. Since that time, she has gone ahead to speak on other issues even after the new government came to power.

Many people thought once John Mahama was removed from power, the power outage issue will end, however, that has not been the case as it is persisting. Owing to this, some people have called out Yvonne for overlooking the situation and not staging a demonstration as she did earlier.

Yvonne Nelson addressing this issue noted that she will stage a demonstration, but she is waiting for her friend and colleague actor, John Dumelo, so they can do it together.

“I am waiting for John Dumelo so we organize another Dumsor Vigil,” Yvonne said, adding that “We can all become president. If you believe and you have the capacity, you can. I believe in John Dumelo. He is hard-working”.
